Amazing Spider-Man #792

The second chapter of Venom Inc. isn't quite as as strong as the first. Lee Price and his symbiotic minions aren't exactly the most compelling threat Spider-man has ever faced. But this crossover continues to thrive in two key areas. The characterization frequently shines as Slott explores the constantly evolving relationship between Peter and Flash. There's nothing bad here, there's also just nothing that has me super excited to where things are going. We've seen this before in some ways and none of it feels new enough to really get me wanting to see where it all goes. This is entertaining yet forgettable and feels like it'll be going down as a rather mediocre Spider-Man story when it wraps up. Read Full Review

I've used the word "solid" a lot in this review, but I think that's really the word that describes Amazing Spider-Man #792 the most " out of all the crazy, heartfelt, character-driven storylines that Dan Slott has been involved with, I'm not sure if Venom, Inc. is ever truly going to match up, but its crowded roster is handled with enough dexterity and such thrilling artwork that you can't write it off as any sort of failure. The story just seems like a good guys hunt down and beat up the bad guys eventually sort of tale with a variety of Venom type symbiotes as the villains currently. I think so many Venom focused stories the last six months have really taken the shine off an already average crossover. The art deserves a second glance though. Read Full Review

Despite being an ASM comic and part of the Venom Inc. crossover, Spider-Man continues to play sidekick to Venom and Anti-Venom rather than an actual team-up. While the issue tries to illustrate there's a lot happening, in reality, there is very little progress in the narrative. Amazing Spider-Man #792 and "Venom Inc." have put the simpler, more character-centric storytelling from "The Fall of Parker" in its rearview mirror, and that's not really a good thing. However, Venom Inc. has already turned out to be pretty awful, and this is only issue two of the story. I almost dread the next issue of Venom, but heres hoping Mike Costa can pull something together here. While I may still ride this one out for review purposes (and for a bit of masochism), avoid this Amazing Spider-Man #792. Its a grating experience with very little redeeming value. Great premise and Fantastic art but feels off in many moments especially spidey's deal with the symbiote. Maybe it's me but it feels a bit much.

While dull villain Lee Price Venomizes up Felicia Hardy's gang of c-listers, Spidey and Flash Thompson fall head-over-heels into an entertaining bromance. I have no problem with the fact Dan Slott has torched a little continuity (Spidey and Flash-Venom had an excellent rapprochement at the end of Venom: Space Knight) to maximize the Odd-Couple-ness these two can get up to right now. This event isn't shaping up into a Carmina Burana-backed Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, and that's OK. The splendid little character beats along the way justify the exercise for me. Ryan Stegman's art is both polished and dynamic, and the visuals move the story along smoothly and quickly.

Not sure how I feel about this one. It was ok. Nothing really that great. Spidey's hatred for the symbiote is a little annoying. I do like Flash back in the fold though. The concept of the villians is kind of interesting. Hopefully it gets better, because Spidey needs good books at this time.

Wanted the Peter and Bobbi's arc to continue but this crossover came. I wanted to give this a try. Well....it is ok, not bad. Nothing very exciting happens. With the whole lame fight scene in Black Cat's secret lair or something, with characters i dont really care about especially Lee Price/Maniac, that guy is just boring as hell. The art on Eddie Brock looks terrible as well. But still a readable issue that didnt live up to its awesome looking cover.

I liked the intro special, but this sags a bit, focusing on the gang led by Felicia, the group of which I am growing quite bored. I am also not brushed up enough on my symbiotes...how many are we dealing with here? I dunno. The art was strong, but this event has hit a snag in issue 2.

Stegman's art is great as always, but the story is so-so. Flash was a Venom for years and Spidey is still fussed about him wanting to get the Symbiote back, which is a bit nonsensical.
