Black Nerd Problems - Khadjiah Johnson
Oct 22, 2019Though the metaphorical implications were beautiful, I wanted to see more experimentation with language. It felt like the weight of the content did more work than the writing could have done. We brought the lord of symbiotes to the field, one with a grudge for both Spidey and Deadpool, there was so much that could have been done. We learn lessons on friendship, sacrifice, the journey to mental health but what was missing was the recognition of mental turmoil. It didn't spend enough time on growth, the transition felt like light flickering which made me wonder, what happens if we left the lights off for once? What would be Deadpool's experience? Prelude: It's the final part of Absolute Carnage vs. Deadpool. While this book has been very mediocre, maybe this last issue will change that? The Good: This series is over! The Bad: How is Norman fighting here? He should be over in the warehouse with the main story. Hell, Spider-Man should be there too! Voices are off. Humour isn't funny again. It's boring. Conclusion: It's back to the old boring stuff from the first issue. Add poor dialogue and continuity problems and I'm happy that this series is finished.

The sudden realization that this story is practically an AU -- contradicting the main event and Spidey's ASM tie-in -- strikes like an ice-cold douche. Mediocre "LOL Memes" Deadpool action doesn't do nearly enough to compensate. At least the art is nice.

Worst tie-in yet. Art is bad, writing worse and doesn't feel connected to the event at all. Like the writer had his own head-canon and went with that. Avoid this one if possible, it contradicts with main issues much.
