This is a dark, unhappy but compelling installment in the series so far. It's a bleak but involving look at the character of Edgar Seemus balanced against the otherworldly fantasy world Cordelia and Francis King find themselves in. Millar cleverly uses the issue to stitch a near complete view of past events involving Edgar while keeping the central narrative moving forward and playing with concepts introduced before. Every visual aspect of the story is pulled off with masterful aplomb and this series remains one of the most visually stunning series currently running. Read Full Review

I wish more people were reading this series because it's excellent. It's worth buying just for Dike Ruan's stunning art. What makes it an essential buy is Mark Millar's storytelling and characters. There's more story in this single issue than a lot of what the "Big 2" are putting out. Recommended.

I'm a bit lost as I haven't read the other volumes. I like the characters and the guy stuck in the painting. I wanted to see the actual painting, though. I like Albany, but I'm interested in her rise to power. I'm also thrown off by the whole other dimension thing and the Wizard King storyline. Not sure how they are going to wrap up in one issue.
