I don't really know what's going on, but I'm excited as hell to see where it goes from here. Colin Lorimer has put together two issues that are almost completely set-up, but it's still awesome. In The Hunt #1 you're given the begining of a tension filled, scary story. Unlike many other comics both Colin Lorimer and Joana Lafuente work hard and know when to use a lot of detail, and when to hold back. This forces the reader to fill in the blanks, which in turn draws you even deeper into the story. I wish that they both used these techniques a bit more because it was a pleasant surprise to see them execute it as well as they both have. Read Full Review

This probably would have been my favorite book this week, on any other week. It's that good. The fact that we're blessed this week with two masterpieces shouldn't take away from either one of them, though. Some readers may be put off by the slower pace necessary for the terror and dread to really set in, but fans of the genre especially are going to love this one. 'The Hunt' takes a unique approach with Irish mythology and modern setting. Lorimer has put together a supernatural story with good bones that intrigues enough to want more. The art perfectly captures the terrifying tension from the beginning and hovers throughout. 'The Hunt' could develop into the best horror comic with an even better follow-up issue. All that being said, I definitely feel like there's enough here to continue reading the series. The gorgeous artwork definitely carries the weight of the book, but Lorimer's strong dialogue proves and narrative framework also point to a series that might just need a little time to find its footing. The Hunt is an interesting one for sure. For me, issue one is a bit of a ying-yang affair with some very strong elements backstory and art – mixed in with a few black balls some of the dialogue and transitions. Basing a story on Irish mythology is a genius idea and the potential is exciting, and when you add to this the fact that this story is coming out of Shadowline Studios, an Image imprint that has been churning out quality work of late, Ill happily file this under developing and eagerly await the next issue. While not groundbreaking or particularly thrilling, it's a solid if relatively unremarkable start for The Hunt. Colin Lorimer writes well and he colours even better with that blend of normality and complete terrifying insanity lurking in the shadows, and he establishes the world around young Orla going forward with efficiency. It needs to kick into an extra gear as the plot mechanics roll out, but there is plenty of potential within to be a strong horror drama unafraid to pull some dark, mature punches. Read Full Review

I don't read horror comics often (okay... ever), but this one has hooked me! The art is absolutely beautiful and the heavy darkness sets a perfect mood. Great characterization for the first issue. I love the distinctly Irish dialog throughout the book, too. A very good first issue that introduces a few characters, reveals a few mysteries, and ends with a nice cliffhanger. Bring on issue 2!

The art is impeccable and goes a long way towards setting the tone. The story is interesting, there seems to be some king of supernatural threat that has a vendetta against this family. Check this out if you like horror-fantasy.
