I loved Isola #1, and issue #2 has made me rabid for information about this world, what has happened and what the hell is going on now. I NEED MORE ISOLA AND I NEED IT RIGHT FREAKIN NOW. Isola is a taste for a deeper palette, one that savors rich flavors intermingled. This book is so well-crafted that any element could be stripped away from it and the book would still be just as engaging and enjoyable. It's an amazing read. Fletcher, Kerschl, Msassyk, Bidikar, each facet of the story comes together as a magic briolette. I think I may love this second issue even more than the first one. Issue 1 was an intriguing read, almost something of a curiosity. This issue though is almost the true commencement of the series after the prologue of the last issue. This time we delve deeper into the world of Isola and the signals are that this is going to be a fully realized and complex journey that we are embarking upon. In truth, I can't stop raving about this one. Whatever reservations I may have had following Isolas first issue are long gone. And while the methodical pacing may not appeal to some readers, the incredible attention to dialogue, world-building and in this issue have become the driving force behind my desire to get another fix of the intensively atmospheric, fantastical frenzy that is Isola. This'll continue to be a slow burn, but the introduction of new characters, places, and creatures are enough to keep this introduction phase interesting as the plot is revealed. Not to mention the artwork — it's beautiful enough to admire without reading a single word. In fact, I suggest you read it a second time just for the purpose. From the blues of a tiger's stripes, to the backdrop of old ruins, and to the features of a young girl's hands, there's plenty to see and much fuel for speculation. Read Full Review

Isola #2 follows up the first issue with more brilliant art and quiet trekking through a mysterious wilderness full of hunters and other yet-to-be-seen dangers. As lovely as 'Isola' is, it could use some revelations to provide more backstory and answer some lingering questions. We don't know the how or why yet and we're being introduced to new characters leading to more questions but it's never dull. Every panel could be confused for an animation gel making this series look absolutely peerless. The next issue could be the make-it-or-break-it point for this still-evolving story but it's still a recommended buy.  Read Full Review

I guess I'm not 100% sure what this comic is missing, because it has a lot going for it. Yet I'll forget all of it two days from now. It's gorgeous to look at, a Disney cartoon in comic form, but everything else is flat. I look at the world and the characters and go, “that's sure interesting,” and then wonder what else is on. This comic book should be picked up by all those readers who complain that the general quality of art is declining in this industry. A delight to see and read, with a story becoming more interesting by the issue.

This issue wasn't bad by any means, the art was fantastic and it is still intriguing, but I expected a little more after the wait from the superior first issue.

NOTE: My first issue of this series. Found it for half-price and thought I'd give it a go. The dialog and world-building isn't exceptional. However, the art is beautiful (even if the storytelling can be clumsy and confusing) and there's some palpable tension.
