Lyles Movie Files - Jeffrey Lyles

Artist Ryan Ottley is delivering some epically chaotic fight scenes although this issue didn't call for much bloodshed. Ottley's art is so lively and animated that it's clear the intentional effort to craft one of the best-looking comics on the stands today. Colorist Annalisa Leoni's use of bold colors helps to make every panel pop and letterer Rus Wooton does his usual wonder with sound effects. Read Full Review

While meeting a new adversary possibly worthy of our friend Battle Beast, Kirkman keeps it light and moving along, even while so much is happening. It's a refreshing take on the character and story long before things had ever gotten stale. Kirkman and Ottley once again prove why they are the Shaq and Kobe of the comic book world. Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #4 is a great mythology building issue. Battle Beast and Prince Salaka balance each other well. The way they compliment each other enhances the dangerous situation they end up finding themselves. It all works to build up the anticipation for the next big fight Battle Beast will get into. Another incredibly fun issue in what's been an incredibly fun series. The only reason this isn't a 10 for me was how the conflict in this issue was so conveniently and abruptly wrapped up, heh. It fits the tone and it was pretty hilarious so only a .5 point deduction. The art is fantastic and the writing is great. Each character has a very distinct voice and fun personality. I hope this gets made into an animated show too (though preferably with a different animation studio than Invincible.)
