Exquisite Corpses #5

This issue takes an unexpectedly positive turn. A love affair between killers was not what anyone wouldve expected, but here we are. Jordie Bellaire does a wonderful job of bringing this pyro-infused relationship to life. Bellaire also highlights the effects and survival of the townspeople in this crazy situation and really brings a sense of hopelessness to the survivors. There exists the possibility that the series might end in a way that would be cunte-rintuitive to the competitino model that has been promoted in the series brackt system printed at the end of every issue. Theres some suggestion of this as some of the potential victims start to emerge looking abit heroic in the fifth issue. An ending that doesnt feature a clear winner would be a bit of a disappointment given  the somewhat rigidly-defined format of the series, but it could turn a fun idea into something brilliant if its twisted in the right direction. This book almost feels like an anthology. Several of the supporting characters make appearances from one issue to the next, but it's becoming the killer of the month. We can't follow any characters, because we see them once and never again. Even Hunger Games had a main character. We were introduced to the soldier guy in the first issue and never saw him again. I like the book. It's always entertaining. I just feel like it's missing something thats keeping it from being great.
