Birthright #7

Birthright #7 is a great issue and continuation of the story. If you were worried that the first issue of this new arc was going a bit too slow, this one should put your fears aside. The story is really picking up with a lot of interesting new developments and plots going on, alongside a shocking cliffhanger that is sure have you coming back for the next issue. Overall, this is another fantastic issue of Birthright that advances the story in interesting new directions. There isnt too much mindblowing stuff going on here (aside from the ending), but theres a lot of fantastic character work that proves how well developed theyd become in just 7 issues. Even without many major stand-out moments, a lot of work is made to move the story ahead that manages to be entertaining in its own right and not feel like its simply setting groundwork or seeming like it should be in a trade collection, its another wholly satisfying issue of Birthright that fans of the series should enjoy. Barring one slightly strange change it attitude from one character, Birthright #7 continues to raise the high bar it set for itself. Birthright may not always captivate, but one thing that it has done since #1 is excite. That has never been more true than it has over these last couple of issues, with Mikey's adventure taking him and his brother Brennan into new and intriguing territory. The art still remains top notch, if a little odd in some places where the faces look odd and out of shape. But where the art brings its A-game is the last page. The colours, the reveal, the character pose - there is so much to like about the last page. The last page is the redeeming factor of an issue that feels too slow, and feels very much like it is a filler issue. Read Full Review
