Assorted Crisis Events #4

This sort of thing hasn't really been explored in a great detail on the comics page. A single life. Roughly 20 minutes of time if that. And it all plays out with such speed. And every major point in this person's life hits the page with such brilliant concision. And it really wouldn't work in any other format. Theoretically, you could do this on the stage or on the screen. But it wouldn't have the same impact. Because everything that's presented in a static image. And you can see so much of it playing out and you can go back effortlessly simply by flipping back a few pages. It's an entire life on a linear timeframe with a whole bunch of images. Assorted Crisis Events #4 tells a story that we all can relate to, of course with a witty twist. Deniz Camp really thinks outside the box to deliver one of the most relatable stories. Although the story is straightforward, the connection the reader will make to it is what makes this story worthwhile. Sometimes the best way to make a strange tale is to make it real. Man, this is a great book. I feel like I can't praise Camp enough these days. He's genuinely one of my favorite writers in the game right now, if not my absolute favorite. Here, along with the amazingly talented Zawadzki, he depicts the way life seems to pass us by incredibly swiftly. It can be hard to, truly, feel present in your life with everything that goes on simultaneously, and this reflects that really well. Just another outstanding issue for this series.

Well executed. But unoriginal. And a step down from the prior issue. I may misunderstand what “assorted crisis events” is about. Will see if I continue reading this.
