Apr 08, 2026If you couldn’t already tell, I am a big fan on this TMNT series. This series by Gene Luen Yang is taking you down emotion tunnels that need to be explored. I will say that this series of TMNT is meant for fathers out there with early teenage kids. The emotional draw you receive from Splinter and his fears as a father are so relatable to fathers of today. Read Full Review

Apr 08, 2026Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #17 is a near perfect penultimate edition to the Ujigami Saga. This issue sets the table for the finale and really makes you want the finale now instead of waiting. The first arc by this new team has been fantastic and this issue is no different. This a real good action issue that keeps the plot moving while adding some new elements into the fold. My only gripe is for the over simplification of Michelangelo's character Yang is writing. He's so focused on making him the funny goofball from the cartoons that he's sacrificing or not aware of how emotional he is and that he's the heart of the family. His reunion with Tang Shen felt lacking where he would've been much more overwhelmed in that moment rather than just a quick hug then some jokes. Yang's still doing a great job overall but its moments like these that are somewhat jarring or disappointing.
