Street Sharks #1 is all about fun, action, and family and doesn't get steeped in trying to deconstruct or be overly clever with the original property. The title evokes violent anthropomorphic marine animals wreaking havoc in an urban landscape, and Wiliams and Medel deliver this while having a relatable family dynamic and building to a bigger throwdown between the Sharks and Seaviates led by the eugenicist Dr. Paradigm. I never saw an episode of Street Sharks, but this is definitely how I expected an episode to play out from the clips and memes from the Internet. (Apparently, the show is available on the world's greatest streaming service, Tubi.) This is my pure joy and entertainment, escape from the outside world comic, and I can't wait to see more cool fighting moves and one-liners in upcoming issues. Read Full Review

Street Sharks, and any future comics based on 90s cartoons, faces the tough challenge of being compared to other big 90s nostalgia revivals, a comparison that isn't entirely fair. Still, Stephanie Williams takes on this iconic series and handles it well. In the end, it does exactly what it sets out to do, scratch my nostalgia itch as well as entertain me along the way. I recommend this series for those looking to reminisce a bit about their childhood cartoons and see some crime-fighting sharks. Read Full Review

Street Sharks #1 delivered exactly what it needed to be. This is a comic book that is nostalgia at its finest. There is plenty of nostalgia in the story Stephanie Williams and Ariel Medel tap into. At the same time, they do make this feel like a continuation of the animated series with an episodic tone to this debut issue. If you grew up a fan of the Street Sharks make sure to pick this up. My first encounter with Street Sharks. It does reminds you like you're watching a 90's cartoon episode. The art is clean but not great, very cartoony of course. Story is just ok, great intro, a lot of chaos for the reader, bit over the top action and a classic ending. Cool. Do I recommend this? No Will you regret it? No
