KPB Comics - Phillip Creary
May 06, 2026Ben 10 #1 is a win for anyone who loved the show as a kid but hasn’t thought about it in years. While it doesn’t reinvent the wheel and basically feels like the cartoon in comic form, it balances that cozy summer-road-trip nostalgia with a sci-fi edge that many of us grew up with. Whether the series eventually needs to be more than a faithful tribute is up for debate, but if you’re looking for an action-packed reason to jump back into the Tennyson family chaos, this is it. I've been a fan of this franchise for as long as I can remember, so, of course I was going to pick this up. Really liked the sound of the direction, and I think the modified looks of the aliens largely look super cool. That said, this is, essentially, the first episode of the original TV series...with some tweaks. I'm wondering if Ben being able to turn into Heatblast so quickly after being Four-Arms is an intentional difference, as he usually has to wait longer before transforming again. I could get into the differences and such for a while, so let me just talk about the story. The story itself is fun and good, as it is largely just the first TV episode, which was already good. I think Casey was able to maintain how engaging it is, while a more

If you're not familiar with Ben 10, this might be a better outcome than if you're very familiar with or a fan of ben 10.
The art and read is smooth and just excellent.
The story content wise is a bit on the slim side. -

Really hyped for that new Ben 10 series I run to read this 1st issue. At first sight, everything was kind of "ugly" and dark tone. When you dive into the story, the tone seems to be just a little darker than the original, but the truth is that this Carey art is really ugly, I confirm my suspicions. This is my humble opinion. I can confirm the esence is Ben 10 OG first episode, but with little changes. I do not like the "Bear" (why robotic? why a bear and not just a robot), I do not like Human Designs (very, I mean VERY ugly), but I do like the 2 aliens shown: Heatblast and FourArms. In the other hand, why so fast transforming 2 aliens in a few minutes? There are nearly inmediate available transformation one after another. The pace is very f more

Looking at the first sentace of the describtion of this issues, i see "A fresh take on a 21st Century classic!". I would be down to agree woth the second part. To a lot of boys born in the early 00s like myself Ben 10 was fundamental. It was everywhere and personally i was obssesed with it. The first part of this sentence i do not fully agree with.
As others have already noted this is a rehash of the first episode. Others also noted that it seems darker, but again i don not really feel this way. I thibk the art gives the comics some grotesque, but this is not something that can be felt throught the characters or the tone really. The art i think for the most part is kinda sloppy to be honest. I am totally on board with the alien be more -
