You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff

    Jul 29, 2020

The new direction maintains a noble sense of mystery about one of the most established characters in all of contemporary pop fiction. She's front and center for the whole issue, but Tamaki doesn't allow the reader into Diana's thoughts. The narration that more or less runs throughout the issue isn't Diana's either. Tamaki renders a very appealing Wonder Woman who seems poised to reveal a more intimate personality in time. For now, she's just the beautiful woman with all the swords and vases and decorative Ionic columns who lives down the hall.  Read Full Review

Interesting villain choice aside, this is a very positive debut from a writer who gets Wonder Woman's strengths paired with an art team that will constantly wow readers. The rest of 2020 is looking bright for Wonder Woman regardless if her film makes it in theaters this year. Read Full Review

I thoroughly enjoyed this issue and the little details added in by the creative team. Diana is in safe hands and I’m excited to see how she’ll be further developed. If you’re looking to get your Wonder Woman fix before Wonder Woman 1984 (hopefully) drops later this year, then look no further than Wonder Woman #759! Read Full Review

The core of this run, at least at first, is going to be Diana facing off against one of her most personal enemies in Maxwell Lord"and his first appearance in this issue is pitch-perfect. There are a few hiccups in this first issue, but Tamaki gives us a likable version of Diana, some promising new characters, and a deadly villain to start things off. Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Jim Werner

    Jul 27, 2020

Mariko Tamaki starts her Wonder Woman run with a combination of action-movie mayhem and indie movie interactions.  It's a nice combination, though certain scenes hang around a little too long at times.  Mikel Janin makes it all pop, and the ending, while leaving the good stuff for the next issue, will have me back for just that reason. Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez

Wonder Woman #759 is a very good start that welcomes both new and long-time fans of Wonder Woman into what will happen next in this series. Mariko Tamaki showed a strong understanding of who Wonder Woman is and sets up a story with Maxwell Lord as the main antagonist that you are immediately invested in. Add in the fantastic artwork from the team of Mikel Janin and Jordie Bellaire and you have a comic book Wonder Woman fans should all be checking out. Read Full Review

    Newsarama - Pierce Lydon

    Jul 29, 2020

Wonder Woman #759 won't impress everyone. It's not reinventing the wheel, but it's a solid enough issue. The art is outstanding, and the writing has the potential to get there. We saw Tamaki able to explore Jennifer Walters' psyche during her run on She-Hulk and I hope we'll get a similar examination here. Max Lord is back " a villain that Diana killed back in the days of Infinite Crisis " and that's got to weigh on her in some way. But the art is the real star in this issue " did I mention that Janin draws great dinosaurs? Because he totally does " and I hope that Tamaki is able to challenge her art team to make this arc truly memorable. Read Full Review
