Titans #26

Overall I loved reading Titans #26. It was a good read, and judging be the ending Abnett is going to give us something epic in the future issues. The return of the Blood Cult seems to be actually happening, and the source wall energy seems to be at the center of it all. Hopefully next issue we'll see more of the Blood Cult, and what exactly their true plans are. Read Full Review

TITANS #26 is a high intensity, action-packed story that does a fantastic job delving into the doubts and fears of its lead team. While writer Dan Abnett doesn't push his explorations quite far enough, the characterization within is still some of the best in comics! Read Full Review

Titans is turning the corner to becoming a strong read with each passing issue. Theres a real sense that Abnett is close to making the book special, but understanding its a slower process than usual. Im anticipating this title more and more now especially since its on the bi-weekly schedule. Abnett can take his time building up stories without them feeling too prolonged. Titans #26 felt important in a number of ways. First, it increased the tension between characters on the team – particularly, Ben and Miss Martian. Next, it increased the conflict between the Titans and the Blood Cult, who proved more of a threat than ever before. Itsseemingly callous depiction of Donna added intrigue while a mysterious Miss Martian cast doubt on her loyalties. Abnett's narrative and Peeples' art were well matched in this enjoyable issue. Titans #26 shows that the current mission statement for the team has legs. Dan Abnett did a very good job creating greater interest around what the Blood Cult are using the chaos created by the Source Wall for. In the process Abnett using the conflict the Titans resolved to show how strong of a team they are while developing several character sub-plots. As long as we can get more issues like Titans #26 this series could start rising to become one of DC Comics better ongoings. Read Full Review

Titans (2018-) #26 continues to follow the teenage team of young heroes as they progress through their current mission while also progressing as individuals and novice superheroes. A wonderful story including great words by Abnett, the only thing that would make this comic better would be more artistic execution from Peeples. Read Full Review

For an issue that is pretty much a long fight sequence, this issue isn't horrible. We get some character development throughout the issue and even though the biggest twist is one that we've seen dozens of times over the years, it's not the worst development in the world. I like a lot of elements of this book but it still seems to be floundering. Change might be coming though. It still remains to be seen how the series is going to be handing the new status quo that Nightwing is going to be going through over the next few months. Read Full Review

I feel like I've been giving Dan Abnett one more chance on Titans since Titans Hunt concluded and the regular Titans series began. It was a series in search of a reason for being other than nostalgia and shared history. As a fan I got what I wanted when we got a series about the original Teen Titans (including, wonderfully, Lilith and even some Gnarrk) all grown up, but it turns out to have been less interesting than similar attempts by Devin Grayson--who handled this team that was only ever together as adults because they had been as teens best of all who tried it--and Judd Winick who managed to make things a lot more interesting than Abnett has so far. (Incidentally, I'm looking forward to the upcoming collection of Winick's Vol. 1 on Titans.) Over the last couple of issues, though I miss the Peterson art which I felt was better than what we got with this issue, I feel like this team has *finally* found a reason for being. The retcon to Ms. Martian's new place in Titans/JL hierarchy, one that abandons and eschews all of her appearances in Geoff Johns' rather wonderful Teen Titans, was off-putting to begin with. In early issues it felt off-key and out-of-place to give her that sort of status vis-a-vis Nightwing. As it turns out the retcon really works in current continuity though and I think it worked best in this issue. As it continues it seems to get better and more meaningful for her to occupy the role she does in this book and it's a shame how badly interrupted her relationship with Dick Grayson is about to become (surely everyone has read or read about Batman #55 by now). And what will that mean for Titans going forward? And what will the events of Heroes in Crisis mean for Titans? And how soon will those continuities intersect? They can't possibly wait too much longer to address the enormity of events in other series' to their own roster and to some of their closest friends. I'm eager to read about all of *that* and I hope Donna will be the next leader of the team (as overseen by M'gann I guess). I was surprised to find myself enjoying this issue, more than during any point of Abnett's run I guess, though it also served to remind me how incredibly many issues of his run have left me utterly cold. Still, a step up, and now we're getting somewhere (finally!), just in time for that forward movement to be entirely devastated by devastating events in other books. It will be interesting to see how Abnett handles the fallout. more

Last few issues kinda looked like Dan Abnett was stumbling in the dark with the story. Not really knowing where to go with it. This issue, on the other hand, seemed like things are finally on the right track. That, paired with some nice art, made for a pretty good issue of The Titans.
