Joe seems more determined than ever to help reverse the damage done to his town and others that have been affected by The Salesman. May 02, 2018A slight dip in both quality and originality then, but the strength of the first issue gives me hope that Jordan and Tan will be able to right the ship before things end up going too far down the cookie-cutter troubled superhero road. Its also worth reiterating that it still looks fantastic, and is worth the cover price on the strength of the artwork alone particularly the sections which feature Brimstone cutting loose with his dangerous and unpredictable new powers. Word Of The Nerd - Joshua Page
May 02, 2018Curse of Brimstone #1 was very promising and unique. It offered something fresh. It offered a new kind of hero. Curse of Brimstone #2 continues to promise something very different and interesting to the DC Universe. However, the execution of those ideas seemed a little sloppy to me. As I mentioned previously, this issue felt very rushed. Characters just accept things without question and move on like nothing happened. That can be frustrating. Granted, things could really pick up in the next issue. The Curse of Brimstone #2 falls into some clich territory and the story moved along a little too quickly, but it is entertaining. It is not necessarily a boring issue, just not as great as it could have been. Despite this, I am hopeful for the next installment and can't wait to see where this series goes from here. Solid writing and interesting art. I like the salesman concept, but I think the battle between fire and ice is a bit generic. Promising title overall.

Not a bad issue, but the main story feel a bit cliche. While character development and relationship between two protagonists, Joe and Annie, are really well written, the background relating to the Salesman is rather shallow. The fact some conspiracy theorists from Reddit, or all places, apparently know everything about him/her is an instant red light to me. Decent, but could have been better.

Joe wakes up after receiving his fiery powers to learn that his little town is half destroyed and covered in snow and ice. With the help of his sister he quickly surmises that the Salesman that gave him powers must still be in town, so they go on a quest to find him. All this while Brimstone struggles with the realization that he got this powers not to save his town but to burn it to the ground. Compared to the debut issue this one is much slower, but we still get some good dialogue and a very nice art.
