Superman under the guidance of Tomasi and Gleason continues to be the shining beacon of Rebirth line up, which is now being rebranded to DC Universe! It is nice to see that Superman and Batman continue to have strong books as they were always a linchpin and a backbone of DC Comics together with Wonder Woman. Read Full Review

It's not a bad issue, but it's certainly not a great one. It got us from Point A to Point B and sets up future storylines. Nothing exciting to see here, folks, and certainly no events or characterization you haven't seen done in comics a thousand times before. Very predictable"but with some beautiful art, though. Imperious Lex comes to a rushed conclusion that is really disappointing and the whole takeaway from everything that we dealt with in this arc seems to be in the final two pages and it's a direction that I wish this book and DC in general wouldn't go.  Overall, this issue was really underwhelming and that's a shame because I was hyped at how much promise it had. The issue ends with Superman giving Lex a talking down and that his actions have been dangerous and as a result, this billionaire finally removes the crest of El from his armour. All in all, Imperius Lex was a very fun storyline that ticked all the boxes with its epic story and amazing art that delivered a classic Superman story. OK. Maybe SUPERMAN #36 wouldn't, normally, be an "8" comic but it has two things in its favor: art from, the always terrific, Doug Mahnke AND one hell of a last page. SCORE: 8

I enjoyed this overall arc, but felt this finale was a bit rushed. I wish it had taken another few issues! Also, what is it with Tomasi/Gleeson and soldiers?

bad art and a boring story. it all ends when the big bad trips and falls into a pit. oh, and Lex is going bad again. yawn.

Honestly been very unimpressed as whole with this superman run, it’s had a few high points but overall just very lacklustre. I’m glad this particular run is over soon (not sure about Bendis, but I’ll give it a shot), But to the main point which is this issue in particular....it was dull, completely skipable story, except for maybe the last page. It’s quite disappointing because I thought this story might go in a different direction when it began but it just end up another failure by this team, hopefully their last arc will be something worth reading.

I don't give it a lower rating just because the art is good. Everything is rushed. Luthor's development go to waste so fast. Worst thing is that they keep pushing this extremely conservative Superman that adores the founding fathers and names them every time he has the chance. He practically says that the US is not an example for his world but for the multiverse (considering Apokolips is in its own universe according to the multiverse map). He basically goes there, he's named the protector and leader of Apokolips and he appoints his biggest fanatic as the leader instead. Imperialism at its finest. I've been hating this Superman since the road trip. It's like Miller's, except for the fact that Miller's was a satire so it made sense.
