The Super Powered Fancast - Deron Generally
Feb 12, 2020Rachael Stott delivers some awesome visuals in this issue. Everything looks great from the characters to the action and the issue ends with a beautiful, dark and dramatic shot of Supergirl that immediately makes me wants to see what happens next to the character. Read Full Review

Feb 19, 2020The multi-issue Wonder Woman crossover is proving to be the perfect approach to Supergirl-as-super-villain. Her brief encounter with Batman and Superman at the beginning of her current journey didnt have a strong enough emotional component to make much of an impression. Wonder Womans specific flavor of altruistic compassion makes for a very meaningful contrast against super-heroism gone wrong. Supergirl #39: Im the Bad Guy Part 3 is one of those rare instances where the weight of a superhero crossover is more or less equally shared between both heroes. Read Full Review

But Why Tho? - William J. Jackson
Feb 12, 2020This is a fun, dramatic issue. There are increasing stakes and making Smallville the center of it all, especially after Superman revealed his secret identity to the world, in Superman #18 gives the story added weight. Read Full Review

Mar 05, 2020With solicitations hinting that Supergirl is getting cancelled (again) after issue #42, I shouldnt be so hard on her, but I want this series to end. The Infected storyline has deflated and brought Supergirl down with it. It would have been better off if things just continued in the pages of Hell Arisen instead. For a series that came back with a good purpose, its lost its direction by being caught between two event stories while not capitalizing on either. Read Full Review

Feb 12, 2020While this issue is a significant improvement on the previous issue, it still has some rather big mistakes. I assume that this comes from a relatively young creative team as I cannot see one of the big names in the industry making the same mistakes but they also shouldn't have gotten past the editor so there is plenty of blame to go around. At least, the main plot points of this issue make enough sense that the book still is able to pull the story forward and set up an exciting next issue. It's it good? No, it very much isn't but at least it's not completely incompetent like the previous one. Read Full Review

Feb 12, 2020The idea of the Dark Supergirl story is an intriguing one, but as we get to Supergirl #39 it's just starting to feel a little old with each issue reiterating that nothing and no one can really get through to Kara in her infected state. Read Full Review
