Hooray! The band is going to get back together soon. Red Hood: Outlaw is way better when it is Red Hood and the Outlaws. The art in this book is always delightful. The jokes still land, but it has been missing the Outlaws and to that end, without Artemis to keep Jason in check, he kind of runs amok in a bad way. Read Full Review

Red Hood: Outlaw #39 may not have lived up to my hopes of it becoming a darker and grittier tale of Jason Tood finally striking out on his own as a grim vigilante, but I cant help but like this arc. Jason is a good teacher and his students are interesting potential future villains. Id recommend it for Rocaforts art alone, but I have to hand it to Scott Lobdell for giving this book some heart. After two rocky issues I feel like this arc is starting to fall into a solid groove. There were some strong character moments with the team in this issue, and Jason's teaching style has finally started to come into focus. The continued inclusion of Bizzaro and Artemis has expanded to include Pup Pup and is finally moving forward. Even though some of the humor missed the mark for me, and parts of the story felt like filler, I feel like the issue was still a fun and enjoyable read. Read Full Review

Rocafort and Firchow continue to bring the excitement to the visuals as only they can. Rocafort has such a unique style that it makes reading any book that he is on a joy. Couple that with Firchow's complimentary colors to the line-work and inks make for a visually pleasing read. Read Full Review

I don't think I'll ever be a fan of K. Roc's style of art, but I know a lot of people enjoy it and there's some cool things in this issue if you are a fan. Sadly though, beyond the art we have a bit of a rehash of our characters just fighting, while Jason cracks wise and sits back and this part is my favorite bit of the story. Everything after that with Artemis and Bizarro feels forced, out of nowhere and barely makes sense and it comes off like there was no real direction or story for these characters. Read Full Review

Overall, this was a serviceable comic and a decent read, just not much important happened. If you are currently reading the comic, no need to stop. If you want to get in, I suggest going back a few issues first and starting from there. Read Full Review

Prelude: Generation Outlaw hasn't been doing too greatly so far. Let's see what this issue has to hold. The Good: I'm really enjoying seeing Jason as a teacher. Artemis and Bizarro are back in our world! Rocafort's art was great here. The Bad: Still not sure on Lobdell's other OC's here. Conclusion: This story is getting better and better for me. The highlight is still the Dark Trinity but Generation Outlaw are improving.
