Peacemaker: Tries Hard! #1 is a great debut. It's absurd in its situations playing up everything to extremes but never quite crossing that line to distract. Every moment is used to pack in a joke and a laugh, and through it all, you feel a little bad for Peacemaker. First thing's first, not everything worked here. I felt that some of the humor worked and it made me audibly laugh, but I also felt that some of the humor didn't work as well and felt a little forced at times. Plus, the flashback with Christopher's dad felt a little generic to me. Nonetheless, this is still an entertaining first issue for this miniseries. I think it just needed to find its stride, and I think it did by the time we got to the final few pages. I'm hoping this series gets better as it continues, because I can really sense some potential here. As of now, I'm interested enough to stick around for the ride.
