Feb 28, 2018It bears repeating: this comic is weird af, but each member of the creative team for Doom Patrol/JLA make that a shining element of this comic. Seeing all these characters together is cool enough, but the ending speaks volumes not just to the story but the medium of comics as a whole. Diving into the various meanings of this text was beyond enjoyable, and Im glad we are getting more stories in this vein. This story in particular is a reminder that bringing worlds together can be a fun ride and is an important part of engaging continuity. Read Full Review

Basically, Gerard Way, Steve Orlando, Dale Eaglesham, Nick Derington, Tamra Bonvillain, and Marissa Louise are saying that superhero comics are pretty damn weird, and they can embrace this strangeness, be inspirational and even funny, and not just be grist in the mill of real life Retconns aka their corporate overlords. The early promise of wackiness loses steam long before the conclusion, which comes from out of nowhere thanks to a character's ill-defined power set. It generally looks fantastic throughout, barring some pseudo-religious imagery that is too abstract to tantalize and too bizarre to offend, but that's not enough to make it worth recommending. Mar 01, 2018Metanarratives can be interesting, but they have to mean or do something, otherwise youre just breaking the suspension of disbelief for no reason. Doom Patrol/JLA did that. I could not begin to be engaged with this story. The moments of emotional resonance were view. Eagleshams artwork at least made the pages look good, but it couldnt make up for the utter nonsense drowning out anything resembling a coherent plot. Stay far from this one. Give it a hard pass. this whole crossover is an 8, however the final issue is a 9. It's a whacky crossover where the heroes have to stop their universe from being sold to Japanese Manga. Its honestly crazy but it has great art and I like hte introduction of Doom Patrol, Shade, and more.

Even though I've never read Doom Patrol (or the rest of the Young Animals titles), these couple of issues have made me curious enough and I look forward into going back and reading Doom Patrol.

A good issue & a good ending. I don't understand why Terry disappear ... And I love the ending for Robotman ! That a weird story ... But a good one ... I see some critic about writing comic for the industry & that's nice they succeed to publish it. Like the nail with DC logo on it. Cover - Funny ... But not what I read ... though ! 1.5/2 Writing - A little strange, but nice. I wonder why I didn't see Mother Panic in the final fight ? 2/3 Arts - Very good. Elastic girl & eternity girl come back in the reality are both great ! But I not fond of all the part where rita is captive. 2/3 Feeling - I will wait for a New Doom patrol ongoing ... And the Eleven if DC didn't forgot to publish it. They didn't succeed to make me love Cave Carso more
