Justice League #66 is yet another clinic in how to make an amazing team book. Both stories and creative teams are putting out some straight-up wonderful work, and theres pretty much no other team book on the market that gets close to it. It's still lovely to see the other DC heroes join the fight, and Brian Michael Bendis' knack for witty banter is perfect for characters like Black Canary and Green Arrow. Naomi's interactions with the Justice League Dark are some of the issue's best moments, but they are too fleeting. Read Full Review

The two stories in Justice League #66 are wildly different in terms of quality. Ram V's Justice League Dark backup is fully deserving of a 5/5. However, I'd only give Bendis' main story a 2/5. I hope that Bendis' story starts to improve soon, but at least the backup story is great read. Read Full Review

So, does this end of issue page weirdness and the strange use of nonlethal weapons in a battle between assassins significantly detract from this issue? I have to say yes. Both things pulled me out of a story that I was otherwise immersed in. It doesn't take away from the snappy dialogue, the artistic display of Synmar's strength, the reveal of Naomi's powers, or the tremendous Superman. Read Full Review

I always say my reviews on these comics won't be long, and they almost always go over a thousand words anyway. It's inevitable with two books in one, really " even if I don't like the comic that headlines this release, there's still plenty to say about it. At this point, my only hope is that these complaints are heard " because there's a great book here that's being paired with one that I don't think is up to par, and wallets are suffering as a result. There's something about the way that Bendis writes the Justice League that just comes off wrong in so many ways. Whether it's the way the characters sound, act, the idea that it seems Bendis doesn't know who he's writing, or even the way that the story transitions so that it feels awkward and jarring. I'm not enjoying this title and the JLD backup can only take us so far and sadly, where I've been loving the art in this book, this issue I can't say the same and need something more out of this book overall. Still, the fact that this issue is not as inviting to new readers as it expects one to have knowledge of the current storyline (which I have been ducking) to pick it up, as well as being attached to an unflattering cover of the Hall of Justice does not entice me to continue with Bendis' run, though I am encouraged to peek in periodically every now and again for a periodical like this. I'd say this was my least favorite issue of this run so far that being said it's still a 7.5 for me. Both stories were very good I did like the justice league story a bit more though as the justice league dark story felt rather small.

The pencils were not good. The story was just ok. I think I’m done with this series. I wanted to enjoy it, but I dont.

I am astounded by how this issue is constructed. It seems like Bendis didn't know what he wanted to do here. He wants to make it about Naomi, but no actually, it's about Checkmate and the Daemon Rose, but like no actually, it's about the Symnar being sad and attacking, but no we're actually introducing a new super-team. It feels so disjointed in pacing, the writing is all over the place in terms of styling and tone. It feels like multiple issues of the same event had their pages composited together into one issue. And look, I like Phil Hester's art, but it does not help the feeling that this issue is both rushed and all over the place. I'm genuinely astonished by this one, and in the worst way possible. Oh, and I hate Bendis' John Constanti ne. He acts and sounds like a cool uncle in a family sitcom. Making bad jokes and waiting for applause from an audience of seagulls. The Justice League Dark backup continues to be a bore. I just think Ram V's writing needs room to breathe, and it's not getting that in these painfully boring backups. I just don't care. This title has nothing to offer me, and I'm sooo close to just dropping it. more

I absolutely love this website. At the time I review this, the rating is 1.0 with 4 out of 4 reviews. And it's well deserved! This was such a mockery from Bendis, he doesn't even try, the dialogue is just awfully bad, he only cares about Naomi and he jumps from panel to panel like a disoriented old man suffering from some mental illness. The second story is just as bad. I urge people to keep rating this as it deserves, I for one am done with Bendis' JL, I've said that before but this time is for good, I'll read just his last issue when that will appear so I can have an idea where the next writer has to take the story from.

I don’t want to get into a whole thing about it but it would be cool if people would stop using mental illness as a slur for someone that isn’t mentally ill. I’m bipolar and I don’t much like bring compared to Bendis. He’s not mentally ill, he just sucks.

@BatmanJones: You're right, I haven't been very "technical" about it. I do understand if it's a big deal to you, I have enough people around me who have suffered from mental illnesses to know better than to throw insults like that around but I still do sometimes, it's a flaw of mine and I accept that. But sometimes I use it in a context when I genuinely believe some people do suffer of such an illness and are not recognizing their problem so if you see me again doing that, just bear that in mind

No, seriously DC, why did you give this book to Bendis? Seriously, c'mon guys! It's the JUSTICE LEAGUE!! It's supposed that we have to have the best stories in this book! Why this book doesn't even mention something about Infinite Frontier or Shazam's magic Crisis? Why the h311 you hate Ram V so much to give him JLD as a secondary story? Man, even Synmar was a decent character but now it's so stupid that it hurts. Bendis is probably the only writer in DC that doesn't care about teamwork. I'm not a fan of him, but I still know that he wasn't the correct choice for the Justice League. You guys have an entire Black Label line!! Give him a book about any other story like other genres like Scarlet or Torso. He can't write superheroes anymore. And yeah, this rating happens when you stop giving amazing art to mediocre writing. more
