Hooooly cow. This series is so. Darn. Good. Imagine if all DC books had this much consistency and relevancy. We'd be in a new golden age. I implore you all to give this series a try. Its cinematic, raw, well drawn, and features a duo that shouldn't work but works incredibly well. I give it a nearly perfect score because there's really nothing I dislike about it. The voices are clear, the narrative is realistic and the message while heavy isn't preachy. Great stuff.

There are not many books coming from DC right now that I can say I legitimately get excited to read, but this is one of them. The dynamics between Icon and Rocket is balanced so well and the story itself is engrossing. Can't wait to see what happens next! https://youtu.be/6VyJSR8sOmY

I'm really liking where this run is going. Sure there are those talks Isaiah gives Raquel about venture capitalism. But more importantly it's about how consequences are faced and how psychologically based they are. Sure how the war on drugs actually happened is important, but how the president looks like he feels pressured by his advisors/lobbyists to meet their demands humanizes him instead of those inept politician tropes. He looks more like he's scared of them and the alien they work with. The fact this assassin is essentially this universe's killer of Superman shows how he has the power to steal away any people's hopes for any real peace. I always find it very funny when writers who are cashing checks from big corporations complain that "capitalism sucks". Like, no one is forcing you to work for them, dude. Go do your indie thing. Oh, you're not actually that good and just love that sweet money? Maybe ease up on the preaching, in that case. Also, "money" is decidedly NOT a primitive concept, in fact it may be one of the best concepts humanity has ever come up with. That's why exchange of goods is being done peacefully and not in violent ways, because we all agree that these piece of papers have a certain value.
