Mar 09, 2022And we have the beginning of a Rogue's Gallery. Man Ray or is it Manray? Whomever this person is, you can bet that there will be more. Great art"take a look at the frame above and really drink that cityscape in! That's the Big Apple with its own Batman! Read Full Review

Mar 12, 2022Ridley's story is showing us how Jace is proving himself and growing into the role of Batman and this is best done out of Bruce's shadow. Putting Jace in a different, but not entirely dissimilar city allows the new Dark Knight to establish himself with minimal reliance on Bruce's reputation. Ridley's story is an interesting deconstruction of the character that asks if one has to be Bruce Wayne to succeed as a Batman. It's an intriguing premise and I look forward to seeing how it plays out as Jace's saga continues. Read Full Review

Mar 08, 2022I Am Batman is a tantalizing Batman book because it's allowed to do things differently. On top of a different type of city, Jace is trying not to be just another Batman, but something more and something that suits him. Add in the political elements the modern feel of New York, and you have yourself a pressure cooker of a story that does the rare thing of feeling like an evolved Batman. Read Full Review

Mar 08, 2022While some may see I Am Batman as just another Bat-title or even a Bat impersonator, this series is doing something very clever in showing a different kind of Batman that still brings interesting concepts and moral conundrums in Jace's attempt to be the best Batman he can be but still being true to himself. The art in this issue is really great and the story just keeps getting more and more interesting. Read Full Review

Mar 10, 2022'I Am Batman' handles the social and political commentary well with each issue, while it seems to be struggling a bit still to actually build a solid foundation of a world/social structure or more for Jace Fox in his new life. Cops and Batman have a very long iffy history and this series adds its own take on the matter. Read Full Review

Mar 08, 2022I Am Batman #7continues to have artistic issues, but it's doing a fine job of separating Jace Fox from Bruce Wayne when it comes to being Batman. With Jace set to receive a new enemy, I look forward to seeing more of his Batman adventures, but hopefully, this series picks an artist and sticks with it. Read Full Review

Okay, ignore the bad reviews from the people still upset about a black Batman. This series has finally really hit its stride. John Ridley has been building up all these characters and ideas for an absurd amount of issues, and it's finally paying off. Things work so well here, and I just hope enough people came back after this series lifted itself out from under the very unfortunate Fear State event.

This issue felt like a great episode of crime tv. Character development, a loaded story that moves the plot forward organically, some solid action and intrigued and a stinger at the end. Strong issue all around.

This is my favorite issue of the series yet. I feel as though Ridley has finally found his stride with this series. As another user stated in their review, this feels like a crime television show, and a good one at that. The characters here are solid, and I like the building of respect and trust between Jace and Chubb. Hopefully the team can maintain this quality, because I'm actually really enjoying this.

Story has always been decent, feels like the art team got a big level up. Hopefully that means sales are good. Setting up a nice alternate batman tale in NYC, interested to see how high it can fly.

I reviewed issue #1 of I Am Batman on my YouTube channel back in September last year. While the art by Olivier Coipel was very good, the story didn't really interest me and I didn't continue with the series. I found main character Jace Fox unlikeable and wondered whether writer John Ridley was purposely trying to court controversy with his character's attitude towards original Batman Bruce Wayne. Yet here I am six months later writing a review of issue #7. What happened? I think it was watching the new Batman (2022) movie that got me all excited and tempted me to give this series another try. It was also the cover art, to be honest. It really stood out among the new releases. The series artist has changed again, with interior art by Chri more
