The eighth issue sets up the confrontation to come, and I await eagerly how this will affect the Earth and how Hawkman might defeat them. This is a character who tends to get a book and see it canceled down the road, so buy this book. Hawkman #8 proves once again that there is nothing wrong with having a superhero book like Hawkman that is endearing. The destination is only as important as what you get out of the journey. This introduction to Catar-Ol of Krypton was as heartwarming as the reunion of Carter Hall and Ray Palmer. Not much happens here. The recap annoyed me but Bryan Hitch's art just sends a jolt through my body. His pencils, along with inks by Andrew Currie and Andy Owens, coupled with Jeremiah Skipper's amazing colours, give us one of the best-looking books currently being published, hands down. Another great issue! It's a slower paced issue than previous issues, but it explores an important element to the entire Deathbringers arc. It also connects Hawkman to Supermans past in a unique way that readers will enjoy. The last panel has me excited for the next few issues since it seems as if the Deathbringers arc may soon hit its climax. The mystery deepens as everything looks hopeless, all while things look to get a lot worse. Hawkman sadly continues to disappoint me as we pretty much have an issue about two guys talking about the destruction of Krypton, while leaving all of the cool details about this series as a mystery that we'll hopefully get later.  I enjoyed the art in this issue, as I have the previous ones, but this snail paced story-telling is killing me. Hawkman is an awesome read and really one of my favorite books out. The mystery and journey of the deathbringers and the reason of his incarnations is really just fun to read.

Pretty good issue. I thought it was interesting enough, while not being so burdened with boring exposition, like the first arc. Although, essentially nothing happens in this issue, and it's hard to ignore that.

While the story alright, still confused on how he got to his past self this time. As well as how calm Catar-ol was. Glad they didn’t bring him back to the present otherwise story would be even more confusing. Feels like this comic is just repetitive with always meeting past self, quite annoying.

THE GOOD: -Bryan Hitch's art was still fantastic. He continues to deliver on every level with this series. -That simulation-thing was pretty cool. Hitch's art really translated that perfectly. -I will admit to liking the scene where they talk with Krypton falling apart around them. That was cool. -I'm semi-excited for the Deathbringers, I guess? THE BAD: -So this issue is just Carter and Catar-Ol talking? Not sure how I feel about that. -Alright I'm really bored with this issue. What a disappointing follow-up to last issue. -1 point.
