For readers disappointed in character treatment in books like Heroes in Crisis, Hawkman is a welcome relief with an appreciated sense of respect for the title character and his legacy. Venditti teases another important character we haven't seen interact with Carter Hall yet. Issue thirteen is an important issue, as its the beginning of a new story arc. It gives Carter some much-needed rest, but still delivers the violence of his past with the introduction of yet more past lives. The creative team needs to be careful, however, as they just finished a big story arc with many enchanting past lives. They could easily find themselves with a stale story if they dont focus more on Carter alone and his archaeology/treasure hunting rather than the countless past lives. Read Full Review

Every book deserves that one solid story that has a beginning and end for the issue. Hawkman #13 didn't give us the room to forget why this book differs from others on shelves. While this issue is enjoyable, I wonder why Carter still can't remember his past selves after what we got last issue, but besides that, this is fun and looks great.  I just wish it was a little more original and didn't make me think of so many stories just like this.   Read Full Review

I really liked this issue. It was a one off that just fit Hawkman so perfectly and the plot felt like it could have been a movie.

Nice little one-off issue. Easy and enjoyable to digest, but not really anything super special either. I recommend this series as a whole, it feels very nice to read in comparison to all the other crap DC is putting out right now.

Sometimes when a book starts, there is a 12-issue plan. So I was skeptical it could keep momentum after the conclusion of the first two big arcs. This is a promising start for what's ahead - and surprisingly Conrad didn't skip a beat following Hitch.
