That page, as well as all of the art, is by Marguerite Sauvage and she does an outstanding job here. The art really propels this story. It was time to sew this up. I would even argue that there were some avenues that could have been explored less (The Batman Who Laughs virus?) and some even more (The Grim Knight). When Marguerite Bennett is connecting the larger themes of Kara Zor-El Superwoman to specific incidents in characters' lives or journeys, her writing sparkles and complements Marguerite Sauvage's magical visuals that can occasionally be dark or playful depending on the tone of the story. However, when she's in monologue about good deeds and virtues mode, the book loses steam and feels more like beautifully drawn and colored lecture and superhero comic. However, I love how Bennett and Sauvage craft the character of Lynari, and I hope they have staying power beyond Future State with their cool powers and emotional openness although their backstory is derivative of several characters already in the DC Universe like Amethyst of Gemworld. So we're close to a good Supergirl story, certainly far closer that the last issues of her own title. But we are still building off of a history that just needs to be cast off. And if this is how Bennett views Kara, I don't think I want her writing any new version of a Supergirl book. Read Full Review

While everything is up for grabs in the potential future of Future State,Marguerite Bennett doesn't seem like she has a grip on the character of Kara and the result is something fans and new readers alike will likely have issues with. The art byMarguerite Sauvage is good, but the story it is helping to tell is not. I really enjoyed this one. This was one of the few stories that really felt like it managed the cramped pacing of Future State, and Marguerite Savage's art is always stunning. One of the best of a weak lot so far.

Supergirl is my favorite Superheroine, but this comic is really bad, only the art save a little this. I don't know why dc or this writer continue trying to sell us this dark, sad and unhopeful Kara. I'm sad who DC still trying to sells us this. Even in this Elseworld they destroy his good relation with his cousin's family. This is not Supergirl. If Supergirl will have again in some point a new series I hope she will be the hopeful, enthusiastic, charismatic and heroic Supergirl who everyone knows and love. And will be good if she team up with the Legion of Superheroes, and his long time partner Brainiac5 aka Querl Dox.

Really pretty art, but the story was just all over the place. Kara does not act like herself, I'm not exactly sure what even happened in this book.

Poor Kara... a fantastic character with so much potential, but no one knows what the hell to do with her. Not in the main continuity, not in stand alone tween elseworld books, and now not even in the future 2 issue long micro series. It's so sad, it's unbelievable. How is it that DC is unable to craft a complelling story around one of their most famous female heroes? How is that they don't even try to promote her and market her comic to casual audiences watching her own show? Hot damn. This comic feels like it has no idea what to do with itself. Someone said "hey, let's make Kara be an overseer of a Danny the Moon of sorts", and that's where the plot pretty much ends. How is that Marguerite Bennett, who's most famous for her Bombshells series didn't really know what to tell here? She managed to find a way to build series out of literal line of toys and use them as creative form of ads to sell more of them. I dare to say if she was able to succeed at that, writing a 2 issue elseworld tale unrestrained and detached from anything and everything, should be a walk in the park for her. It wasn't, turns out. I'm sorry, but this comic feels like a bad soap opera, featuring some scenes that connect, but hardly form a cohesive narrative. First Jon's comic, now Kara's... if Clark's isn't at least semi decent, Future State will be remembered by house of El fans for years to come. And for all the wrong reasons. more
