This has been one of my favorite comic book runs ever from a writer and Williamson should be proud of his legacy on the title. The Flash #762 was a fantastic ending to an epic run by Joshua Williamson. It's no exaggeration to say that Williamson has done for Barry Allen what Mark Waid did for Wally West. While I have little doubt that incoming writer Kevin Shinick is a capable writer, he has an extremely difficult act to follow. Read Full Review

I believe in years to come this run of The Flash will be viewed favorably alongside the work of Geoff Johns and Mark Waid. What we have here instead is an emotional goodbye to the world of the Flash, in the last act of a run that rivals Johns/Reis on Green Lantern and Snyder/Capullo on Batman as one of the all-time greats. Howard Porter's art shines in this issue. There are so many great visual moments throughout and the attention to detail is fantastic. The energy Porter brings to the panels is electric and there is a thrilling sense of movement throughout the Flash/Reverse Flash chase. Read Full Review

Flash ends rather simply with a satisfying ending that you would see at the end of any writer's run with any character. A hopeful and triumphant end for this story and while I do give it a little flack for not doing something a little more original, the book is ultimately brought to a nice conclusion that I enjoy. Overall, I think I will remember Williamson's run with the book fondly, even though there were some serious down moments along the way. Read Full Review

Finish Line cultivated everything Williamson had been building towards to give us a perfect conclusion to the eternal race between Barry & Thawne It's a incredible feat Williamson managed to write Flash as long as he did. Its definitely one of the better titles to come out of Rebirth

Josh has a real accomplishment here... 106 issue run in 2020, that is something to be proud of and one that has a perfect ending for what it set out to do (and for taking the blame away from Wally for HiC)

Hopped back on just to catch Williamson's last issue. It's great. I jumped off around the time Flash War happened, I thought it was so dumb. But in retrospect, Williamson's run as a whole was pretty good. Introducing new characters, bringing back old ones, staying as separated from the rest of the DC universe as possible (minus the Button and Heroes in Crisis, ugh). This issue was a great little love letter to Barry, while Speed Metal was a love letter to Wally. I'll miss him writing it as Flash feels like the only book to have been consistently good since the beginning of Rebirth. Now we settle in for the fill in writers until the next reboot, supposedly in 2021.

Farewell Williamson, farewell. A monumental finale to four years of great Flash comics and a final love letter to Barry Allen and the Flash family. What, for whatever cheese the first three issues of this final arc pulled out, this one hits the gut. It wraps together the legacy of Flash, moving past old grudges, and reminds us what makes Flash such a great hero in the first place. Don't fret, for this is not the end just yet. Read the DM SpeedMetal tie-in for Williamson's last note on Wally West. Huzzah to four years Williamson, you have done us proud!

And so ends the 101-issues long Williamson run on this book. There's been ups and downs, but overall it's been very good. This final arc was great, and was definitely a breather after a few slower arcs. Onto the next chapter now.

I'm not a big fan of Williamson's flash. Yeah sure there very some good issues and some good ideas along the way, especially in the beginning(i still think the first 20 issues were pretty good),but after some time, i started to see some flaws, that diminished my enjoyment out of the book, and the one that disturbed me the most , was how it seemed that Barry just can't learn from his mistakes . IMO that made all of it seems very repetitive, and although there were other things I did not like(plot holes, unoriginality, lack of depth, sometimes bad characterization ) that was the thing that killed the run for me. Reading this issue and seeing Barry forgive Reverse flash, letting himself FINALLY move forward, letting himself be the flash, felt really, really pleasing. I like that direction for the character. Although i did not like the way he did for obvious really, I don't care, I got what I wanted. Yeah the issue isn't perfect, after that moment, which was great, but not that big part of the issue, most of it felt like checklist of things that Williamson just had to show is(expect the thing with Twane's family, i don't know what that was). The end when Barry see the ghost(i guess?) of his mom, although a little bit corny, was a good ending to one very long run. Porter is not my favorite artist, but the art here is pretty good. IMO he really shines when he draws action and dynamic poses. Not sure that every of Williamson's subplots got resolved, but overall a fine ending, it really made me believe that better things are coming. more
