Lyles Movie Files - Jeffrey Lyles

I'm really enjoying being swept away in this Perfect Storm. This looks like it could be an arc Flash fans are talking about for months and possibly years to come. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Christopher Landers

    Feb 26, 2018

Overall, this was an issue that delivered a fast-paced, fun adventure that didnt stop from the first to final page.  Minor character issues from Barry aside, Williamsons writing was on-point, and he has earned the audience sticking around long enough to see if The Flash will step up to act like the hero we all know he should be. Comic Book Corps - Tom Zimm

This is an entertaining, fast-paced and meaningful story. We are left with several cliffhangers. Has Barry lost his powers for good? Is Wall West set up as the new Flash? Read Full Review

An amazing issue that provides meta commentary on the state of Barry Allen while setting a road ahead to Flash War. Read Full Review

The Flash Rebirth run hits its best yet with this issue, and I think this will be a story Flash fans will remember for a long time. Grodd coming back as a villain is fantastic, and the team Flash dynamic makes it even better. Although it may feel slightly rushed towards the end, the issue overall hits every point it needed. THE FLASH #40 features our hero fighting a preening, hyper-intelligent ape. It's the right kind of ridiculous which makes this issue a must read for Flash fans. Read Full Review

The Flash (2016-) #40 is utter eye candy that just begs to be devoured by readers; couple this with a solid script that incorporates on of the Flash's most dangerous enemies and you have an awesome comic book. Read Full Review

    Geek Dad - Ray Goldfield

Another shakeup for Barry's powers so soon after the Negative Flash arc seems like a bit much, but a great central villain keeps this series at the top of its game. Read Full Review

    IGN - Jesse Schedeen

    Feb 15, 2018

This new arc is giving writer Joshua Williamson his first real chance to play with Gorilla Grodd as a lead villain, and it's not disappointing so far. Williamson is able to paint Grodd as a menacing threat while still making his motivations clear and understandable. Read Full Review

    GWW - Deron Generally

A well done story that could have been better without the call backs to Barry's past perceived failures. It's a road that's been traveled too often and it's losing its effects. Read Full Review

Overall, I did really enjoy this issue and felt that it was a stronger issue than the start of the arc. Di Giandomenico’s art looks as good as it always those, but especially when you see Grodd’s face at the start of the issue. Di Giandomenico’s art is great for the Flash as it looks really kinetic. From where the issue left off I am excited to see how the arc will continue. Read Full Review

The Flash #40 benefits a bit from turning your brain off, but it is not because the comic is not good, only that the story of Grodd's pursuit of Speed Force powers seems to be sandwiched between a number of tangentially-related stories, one of which " "Flash War" " has been teased for so long that if you have a passing interest in the comic it is difficult not to wonder how all of this will play into it. Comic Book Revolution - Rokk

    Feb 15, 2018

Overall: The Flash #40 was a solid issue. Williamson continues to display a real knack for the Flash franchise. The true impact of The Flash #40 will not be realized until the events of Flash War have played themselves out. Having said that, Williamson has made The Flash a quality super hero title that is well worth the cover price. If you like classic super hero titles then you absolutely need to start reading The Flash. Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Jim Werner

    Feb 14, 2018

This is a very fast read that is a bit thin on overall story, but it has a very big moment that might lead to some interesting things coming up.  I liked the art a lot and if you are a fan of Wally West (either of them actually), you might want to pay attention to this book even before the Flash War begins. Bleeding Cool - Joshua Davison

    Feb 14, 2018

Flash #40 is far from the worst of the series, but its still an overstuffed comic that still pushes the plot forward very slowly and feels the need to pad itself. No one acts like a human being. The premise is cool, but it does very little of interest with it. The art is solid, but it doesnt save the comic from the numerous flaws. Again, I love Barry Allen more than any other DC hero, but I still have to say give this book a pass. Read Full Review
