I'm on board for where Sebela and Carnero are going with Utopia. It's always refreshing to see fill-in creative teams maintain the momentum of the series and advance existing storylines to make it worth reading. Tynion IV and Sebela are setting up something that I think has the potential for a good story. Though I can't say I like Lonnie as a character in general. The panels in this issue pull you in and that's what I like to see/feel. Include this in your weekly pull. Read Full Review

The change of pace and change of focus may put some fans off, especially as they may feel its like a filler song before the big hit on a CD. Extending the metaphor a little, if you spend your time waiting for Anna Begins, you will miss out on the nuanced Perfect Blue Building. Despite the changes, events in this arc will have repercussions down the line, which in part, is why Detective remain one of the most consistent books from DC Comics. Read Full Review

While I think it would make more sense for Batman to jump full-in on searching for Tim Drake, the idea of mending fences with Stephanie first proves to be an intriguing detour. How will she take the news? Has she gone too far down her recent path to join up with Batman? Or will the Spoiler ultimately spoil Anarky's plans before heading out and searching for Tim no her own? Thanks to a smartly written intro this latest issue is easy to pick up regardless of your knowledge of the current Batman continuity. Everything is explained over the course of the issue and we even get a nice flashback to remind us of just why this chain of events is even occurring. The creative team really do have an understanding of the city of Gotham and its inhabitants, whether they be heroes or villains, and itll be interesting to see just how events play out now that we know a certain key character is on the cusp of returning. This new story arc stared off pretty slow, but I'm excited to see Spoiler once again and this time she is on the forefront; what also is pretty awesome to see is DC bringing back other characters in the Batman gallery that have not been in the light and put them in a way that you know something insane will happen soon. All-in-all, this issue is little more than a reminder of pertinent events that have already transpired and a brief set-up for things to come. There are a couple of brief moments that are genuinely charming, but for the most part, the only thing that really got my attention was the return of Lonnie Machin to the role of Anarky. Another issue that is on par with where the series has been since the New 52 ended...the pencils and colors weren't anything spectacular, but certainly served their purpose and were fine enough. Read Full Review

This issue mostly consists of filler, but isn't bad by any means. The art by Carnero is absolutely gorgeous and if you're excited for Tim's return, it was nice to see him for even this brief time. However, Tynion and Sebela cram the book with filler, so if you're looking for obvious set-up and weak pacing, this is your issue. Read Full Review

Chris Sabella jumps on the book for a Spoiler/Anarchy story that didn't impress.  Not enough happened to get excited about and the art, while decent, wasn't enough to pick up the slack.  I love Spoiler...just not in this book anymore. Read Full Review

A very nice story for Steph this time. I hope their will be a big one for Clayface too. I'm tired to see him used as the third wheel. I would love see him evolve. I was surprised and impressed by Anarky. Even if I don't see any difference between their method & Batman (Except the end). The art is not my kind of stuff.

This being my first Detective Comics, it's hard to judge based on the past material, but this issue is interesting enough to make me want to come back for more. The art is top notch and the story is well written for newcomers not to be lost. Yes, a lot of stuff happened, but nothing overwhelming for now. Back in two weeks to see if they can keep on this momentum.

Not sure where this story is going art wasn't the series best either. But I have enjoyed the past couple arcs so far so here is hoping things pick up.
