Since issue one, The League of Shadows thread has been in Detective Comics. In the beginning, it was just an ominous threat that Jacob was convinced of, up until now where it is really kicking off. DETECTIVE COMICS is the team book for people who don't like team books. At times reading more like one of the satellite bat-books from the late 90s and early 00s as opposed to a core title, 'Tec is a strong entry in the REBIRTH stable which is very much worth your time. In conjunction with last issue's prologue content, this is a good, solid opener to a new arc, especially one with the weight of its title driving high expectations. The creative team is wisely leaning on many of the tools and powers you get when given the opportunity to work on the Batman. Quick, punchy dialog that has the weight of decades of history to round it out without the need to write a lot of words. The capes and shadows. Painting in lots of reds into the blackness. This issue sets up the League of Shadows as the vicious thing it is.  They may work from the shadows, but blood is already getting spilled and Batman is being blamed.  The art was good and the issue ends with a pretty clever and messed up cliffhanger. Read Full Review

Detective Comics 951 does its job by starting the "League of Shadows" arc, but doesn't do anything further deciding to retcon the previous arcs. Art is passable, but again doesn't do much to further it from being average. This issue looks too much to the future than to the present. Read Full Review

I recommend buying Detective Comics #951 if you plan to keep reading this new arc, which, I also recommend that you do. While I enjoyed the issue, I think it definitely relied a little too heavily on cliche. And not just that, but some of the stuff in this story echoed things I've seen Tynion do before. Add to that some generic, yet acceptable, art and I was somewhat underwhelmed with the first part of League of Shadows. Considering I've been fairly pleased with almost everything Tynion has released since the beginning of Rebirth, I was just a little surprised by how average I found this story. Read Full Review

“League of Shadows” begins here with Shiva and the League hitting Gotham City. Killing the mayor and framing Batman for the crime (hrm, not really happy to see another Batman fugitive storyline), the League of Shadows also expose the local newscasters to Joker venom on-air. And they are just getting started. Wreaking general havoc, the League begins its attack on the city and its protectors. As to just what the League wants, and how Batman for Batman and his team will have to go to stop them, we'll just have to wait and see. Worth a look. Read Full Review

As has been the trend so far Detective continues to be one of if not the best Rebirth title DC is putting out. This is a fantastic set up issue for the next story arc. With he colony pushed out of Gotham it's only fitting someone else takes their place and we see the bat team prepare for the up coming attack. With great writing and art this is one book I look forward to every 2 weeks.

This is one of the most constantly great series published by DC and this issue is no exception. The plot is original, the characters are complex and the artwork is beautiful. Still, in my opinion, the series doesn't improve much and struggles to surprise, even if I enjoy it a lot.

Interesting concept for there to be a League of Shadows that Batman does not know about. I think this arc will be good and hope that Cassandra Cain will be front and center for most of the arc.

This was definitely a huge improvement from the oversized annual issue. Duce's art in this issue is just top notch! Can't wait to see how this story unfolds in the upcoming issues.

Solid introduction to the new arc, held down somewhat by the so-so art of Christian Duce, who suffers coming on the heels of Eddie Barrow and Ben Oliver.
