This issue was good despite it being short as it allows Batwoman to spin-off into her own series where the philosophical difference Bruce and Kate will be explored. I.e wanting to end crime vs wanting to end war. Read Full Review

I'm excited, nay, I'm pumped for the Batwoman Rebirth issue on sale Feburary 15th. This issue does well to establish the complexity of Batwoman, how her dynamic with Batman makes for interesting storytelling, and how she deserves her own corner in the DCU. Read Full Review

Detective Comics #949 is a nice wrap to the Batwoman Begins arc, and sets up her ongoing adventures in Batwoman Rebirth #1. While Batman battles crime, Batwoman will need to step it up if she plans on taking down The Colony, and war in general. Writers James Tynion IV and Marguerite Bennett tell an engaging story, and Ben Oliver's art brings it all together in a fully formed tale. While this issue works best with Detective Comics #948, it isn't half bad by itself. Read Full Review

This was a very quick read that doesn't really end, but gives a launching point for Batwoman's upcoming solo book.  If you are going to read that book (like me!), this is a good way to see the direction it's going.  However, if you are just a Detective fan, there isn't a whole lot here for you and you can subtract a point from my score. If I had to pick one thing as this stories major shortcoming, it would be that it doesn't resolve anything. Aside from that, it's also not much more than an extended advertisement for another comic. Granted, I enjoyed it, but I can see how a person not interested in the further adventures of Batwoman might be displeased with it. Given that, I can't really give it my full backing as I think your enjoyment level is dependent on what you're reading it for. Read Full Review

While still enjoyable, this little storyline felt a little tacked on. Like, DC planned in advance for their Batwoman comic to spin off from Detective Comics, so Tynion and Bennett sat down and hammered out a quick little pilot episode. That's probably exactly what happened, but usuallyit's not so easy to see the cracks. I mean, you're telling me that the Colony had this super soldier waiting in the wings and didn't use him in their major storyline only a few issues ago? Still, plot hole aside, this issue had a lot of good action and even better character work for the main characters. I loved the flashbacks to Batman's first meeting with Batwoman, something I don't think we ever saw when she first appeared all those years ago. If his is the level of character work we can expect from Bennett's new comic, we're in for a good time! Read Full Review

I enjoyed the small arc a lot. It skillfully managed to move the series' plot forward and, at the same time, set the stage for Batwoman's series. But what I liked most is how they explore the differences between her and Batman. She hasn't got neither the same experience, nor personnality, nor mission, and she's definitely not a secondary Batfamily characters, she's an independent and complete super-hero. The art is neat, but the two pages from a different artist unsettled me a little. I'm tremendously excited for the upcoming Batwoman series!

Detective has done a really good job of reestablishing Batwoman, with these past few issues setting up what will be a great solo comic. I am looking forward to the enemy that they will eventually introduce and how it relates to the Batman stories.

Great ending of Batwoman begins. Very good story, i like also art. especially i love the ending inwich kate kane reconnects her relationship with is dad after events of the first issues of DC rebirth. great!!!

Overall a decent issue. Some good action and a quick read. But this two part arc was nothing more than an advertisement for the upcoming Batwoman title. Hopefully now we can get back to the team dynamics that made this run fantastic so far!
