Jun 22, 2021Unsurprisingly, Detective Comics #1038 is again a great read that exemplifies what is enjoyable about the comic book medium. Not only is the main mystery gripping, and the characters interesting with truly engaging aspects, the little details bring moments of unadulterated joy. For a great Batman comic, add Detective Comics to your reading list. You won't be disappointed! Read Full Review

Jun 22, 2021The addition of Mr. Worth to Batman's rogues' gallery has been one of the best decisions the Bat-books have made in some time. A powerful in more ways than one titan driven by misguided rage, he's a great illustration of how privilege and entitlement can turn someone from a nobody to a monster in a hurry. Read Full Review

Jun 22, 2021Despite knowing there are more issues to come in this arc, this story ended like a penultimate issue. Considering how good it ended, I am most definitely on board with more. In looking at the trend with the backup stories in Detective Comics, it is going to be interesting to see the role Penguin plays in this plot. Read Full Review

COMICON - Scott Redmond
Jun 25, 2021While the story, coloring, lettering, and backup are all putting in all the effort to make this a really great book there is no escaping the toxic cloud that is over it all because of Viktor Bogdanovic's presence on the book. DC Comics choice to continue to give work to problematic creators when there are so many other deserving individuals (check out the backup artwork) who should be given this chance. The rest of the creative team does not at all deserve this as their work is beyond great. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Jim Werner
Jun 22, 2021This book has become silly and convoluted and needs some focus. So many things in this book are ill-explained or pushed aside, affecting any tension or mystery Tamaki tries setting up. It all looks fantastic, but I find myself less interested in each issue. Read Full Review

Jun 22, 2021Story-wise, I don't think this comic is worth the amount of money that they're charging customers. Now, I'm still crazy enough to pick up the floppies for the art because I'm such a big fan of these artists, but that doesn't mean that I recommend this. Instead, it's probably better to wait and see if the quality of this book improves over time before you spend your hard-earned money on this. It's a shame, really, because this story was off to a good, solid start. Hopefully the creative team can still course correct. Read Full Review
