Detective Comics #1032

There's just a positive, feel good element to this series as Bruce works to be the head of a family of crimefighters. It's not overly emotional, but one can't help in recognizing the difficult relationships in one's own life that are echoed in Bruce's relationships with the members of the Bat-family. We know he loves them, but it's nice to see him say it, especially to his biological son. Now, if we can just get them to bury the hatchet! Read Full Review

The writing by Tomasi is great. The story has a lot of excitement but never at the expense of character. Tomasi always works best with artist Brad Walker, who again, returns here. It is a beautiful looking issue. I loved the whole thing. Read Full Review

With awesome art, the threat that is Hush, and a great fight between father and son, I really liked this issue! Hush has a plan that seems pretty common but with a twist on how he's going to benefit from it. Then the big fight? Loved it! It's been a long time coming and I was not disappointed. I had a different “final thought” typed up before this weekend's news that Tomasi will be dropping off of the title after the next issue. As a big fan of his, I am sad to see him go. What I love about this series is the brilliant way it delivers great action, well thought out characters and terrific dialogue. It's a comic that works for new readers, old cynics, and everyone in-between. Anyone meeting Hush for the first time will be impressed, and long-standing fans get a fresh take on a classic villain. Oh thanks ! finally something decent to read after having died laughing at the ridiculous way Hush captured everyone that was the only funny thing in that issue, now we have a little more consistency here, it's still funny that Hush continues to monologue and the bat unable to speak and forced to listen to him. Something ridiculous is that now all the villains are going to follow the example of the Joker, are they going after the bat family? well I didn't expect that from Hush. Another point is that despite the ridiculous and hypocritical way of Batman, he usually puts limits on his children, Damian being really favored, finally the bat decides to do something that only receives blows, now comes the heroic act where father and son recon cile and leave Damian as a hero. I just hope they get there in time to save Hood. more

I liked this issue however it would have been nice to have had some of Bruce and Damian actually talking. Another thing that annoyed me a bit was the once again having Bat thinking how he would never ever hit one of his kids. Right he would never do that except when he does. Tim getting hit in Kings run was not the first time Bat hit one of his kids. Nor even the first time he hit Tim out of anger. While I'm whole heartedly against such acts of abuse, I don't get why everyone is acting like this is out of character for or the first time ever for Bruce to have done that. I do have to say I like the story so far with Hush but I feel it should be drawn out longer. It would've been nice to have had it been more mysterious. Maybe have Bat an d Damian really have to work to find out who took the family. I like it best when there are twist and turns and it's not clear who is doing what. Batman is a detective so let him detect. lol The art work is good. I didn't like the cover though. more

I think everyone forgets that Batman literally back handed Nightwing in Snyder's Court of Owls story arc. I don't remember anyone complaining then, lol.

Hush is the most overused villain I've ever seen in Batman, even more than Bane. So I'm never thrilled for a story with him. His plot was pointless and it would be better off if he never showed up last issue and bored us with his lame plan in this one. As for Damian, I don't care what becomes of him as he's the worst Robin ever and I've always hated him. He deserves the guilt for what happened to Alfred, because he let his gargantuan ego convince him he could save everything. I already hate Nakano and know he'll be nothing but a problem until he's killed and Batman probably gets the blame. So I can't say I care for where Batman books are headed. It may soon be time I hop off for a few years again.
