DCeased: War of the Undead Gods #1 is a fantastic opening issue leads to an emotional rollercoaster you will want to ride again. The creative team brings us disaster and hope, all while setting up a significant threat in the Anti-Living New Gods. Like in the previous series, we get life and death, but the rules don't always hold, so be prepared! Read Full Review

DCeased War of Undead Gods looks to bring the same high level of tragedy and heroic deeds that have made this series such a killer franchise for DC. I'm all set for what's sure to be an emotionally heavy ride this fall. Read Full Review

It still feels like there's so much more story to explore here, although I do have to say Taylor's biggest competition may be himselfas good as this is, Dark Knights of Steel is definitely his crown jewel by the time this returns. Read Full Review

DCeased: War Of The Undead Gods #1 starts the final chapter of the saga with a bang. We get action, violence, and a ton of emotion; tears of pain and regret, as well as those of joy. I'll be buying every issue, and picking up the hardcover collected edition too, just so that it can join its predecessors on my bookshelf. Read Full Review

Fans looking for a DC universe that is coherent and willing to embrace its legacy without abandon should pick up this series, along with those interested in the intersection of the Superfamily and New Gods. On its own, War of the Dead Gods is a fun read but will benefit from going back and reading the other titles in the DCeased universe. Read Full Review

    Batman-News - Aaron Ray Jr.

I think my niche on Batman-News is being the DCU war journalist. Nearly every title I have covered so far has featured some kind of "war. As an newfound expert on war, I think this doesn't do a bad job setting up the potential clash. Instigating a big arc right after a happy ending is a pretty brutal choice, and I am convinced that makes Tom Taylor a sadist. In any case, the artwork is mostly solid, and the story seems to be on the right track. I want to see more war and gods next time, but I cannot undervalue the big beats of character connections. DCeased: War of the Undead Gods #1 is a strong start to the final chapter of the DCeased Universe. This first issue acts as a good follow-up to DCeased: Dead Planet while setting the stage for an exciting narrative around the frightening and powerful threat that the Anti-Living New Gods are set up to be. While there is one concerning character choice made here I do trust Tom Taylor and Trevor Hairsine will deliver a powerful conclusion to the narrative they have crafted together. Read Full Review

DCEASED: WAR OF THE UNDEAD GODS #1 is a pretty solid opener based solely on the story beats and plot threads laid out in the initial narrative. It's straightforward, easy to follow, and will take fans on a nice rollercoaster of emotions while checking many of the DCEASED boxes you've grown to love. Read Full Review

The Fandom Post - Chris Beveridge

The title of the series makes clear what we'll be dealing with and having Darkseid on the cover only reinforces that. While that's all in the to-come-later box right now,t his opening issue sets up the basics for it and definitely leaves you interested in where it'll go since the scales are getting even bigger. I really liked the epilogue elements from the previous series that are dealt with here and seeing Taylor playing with more characters here and expanded settings definitely pleases a lot. It's a great-looking book that's a fun read and delivers a strong experience overall as it prepares us for what's to come. Read Full Review
