Across the writing, art, and lettering of DC vs. Vampires #3, theres a clear indication the book is a pitch-perfect case of a comic that knows how to have fun. The series takes the premise of Secret Invasion but with vampires, and lets Otto Schmidt go wild with kinetic action and stunning character designs. In a world of comics that feel the urge to try and prove themselves in the field of serious artistic endeavors, it's refreshing for a book to take a breather and be a fun, pulpy adventure across a massive landscape of iconic characters. DC vs. Vampires #3 ups the stakes and shows the Vampires are way ahead of the heroes at this point. There are some shocking twists in this issue, but James Tynion and Matthew Rosenberg also do a good job of setting up some feels. DC vs. Vampires #3 is a hell of an issue that keeps readers guessing as to what's going to happen next. There's enough twists and turns for a miniseries let alone one issue. What's great is, the issue, and series as a whole, has stuck to a psychological aspect that has made the comics entertaining. It easily could have been just one giant action fight but instead it keeps things in the horror space leaving you to constantly guess who might be a vampire and who might wind up dead. The premise is great and I still believe that this is going to be a strong 12 issue run, as DC Vs. Vampires #3 sets up the beginning of a clear league of Super Vampires being assembled. This is a good vampire story, though, as Matthew Rosenberg, James Tynion IV, and Otto Schmidt are crafting a great tale. Read Full Review

This issue ups the ante as we see the two major factions against the Vampires intersect for the first time, the Batfamily and the Arrow Family. I am excited to see the groups mingle more but the underlying distrust the vampires are sowing is making this series very captivating. The art is amazing and the moments between Batman and Zayna are very strong. The cliffhanger of this issue is sure to have disastrous ramifications so I am pumped for the next issue.

The paranoia hits hard. I can't believe how emotionally invested I am in this. It's Secret Invasion meets Body Snatchers meets The DCU. No Constantine yet, but I'm dying for him to show up...

Is is a nice issue, the biggest set back is that Tom taylor did this in DCeased at much larger scale so this feels a little less exciting, I mean Tyrion is trying hard but making Wonder Woman a vampire and touring justice league against batman. the little fight between Dinah and Robin was kind of confusing I am like why this two people in exact. still a nice issue so a 6

So if you are still reading this series, it is because you are a Batman fan. OK. I am good with that. But the writers' portrayal of Nightwing and Batgirl is off-the-chart out-of-character (again). You have Dick Grayson trained as a detective and Barbara Gordon one of the greater analytical minds, with writers showing them behave as hormone-driven teens (which they obviously are not - get a room already). Just Dumb, writers. I am sort of hopeful that this is being led by Matt Rosenberg, because despite my problems with James Tynion, not the best way for him to finish his DC career. But Batman, as always, is the man with the plan, and clearly the lead protagonist. (They croak Batman and it is lights-out for this otherwise unlikable series .) They are telegraphing something about Gotham City, so the leader of the vampires is like Talia al Ghul or Ra's al Ghul, or someone in the depraved League of Assassins crowd, which the writers will probably think is "interesting." (Yawn.) Despite being an obvious Batman fan, I object to the entire JLA being portrayed as dim-wits. OK, maybe a lot of them are. But they didn't save the Earth a hundred times because they were dumb as dirt. Martian Manhunter alone is a detective, and does anyone remember his mental powers to read minds? So this plot of "Batman and the other cast of costumed dumbbells" is both sort of incredibly ridiculous and incredibly insulting to the rest of the JLA. Like Wonder Woman has no will power. Like Flash cannot instantly vibrate through the Earth and move in time. Like... etc. I do respect Batman as the World's Greatest Detective, but we can respect Batman's prowess and not demean everyone else's capabilities. The writers do not seem to have the ability to do that in this plot. And showing Batman as the only one with a drop of brains is faint praise. The writers' limitations have never been more evident than here in DC vs. Vampires, which is a shame for Tynion, as a way to end his work with DC. I guess I will follow this series for another issue or two, due to portrayal of Batman (ironically better here than in most of the other Gotham and Batman-hating writers/editors books). But we'll see. The idea that all of the JLA are idiots is getting pretty old, pretty fast. Hopefully the writers have more of a story than this stuff. We'll see... or not. Yes I noticed the nonsense with Damian, Black Canary, and Green Arrow, but almost too silly to write about. (Dismissive handwaving gesture.) To unexperienced readers, Green Arrow and Batman regularly have a history of close working relations, and if Ollie doesn't know he can trust Bruce, well... I mean that is just too dumb for words. This is what happens with writers who really don't know the DCU, as we have sadly seen too often. In his career at DC, Tynion needed to read more DC Comics and spend less time with his horror comics projects. But that horse has long since exited the stables. As to Matt Rosenberg, I don't know what he is thinking. more

Can't DC Comics do women characters that are not stupid or evil? I keep considering it one of the most off-the-chart misogynist writing I have ever seen. Someday start writing about women as equals and heroic leaders. Only having Black Canary in fishnets as the only "hero" that is not total dimwit is pretty insulting. Astounding that no one notices/cares anymore. Disgrace, really.

DC Comics does not get: "Evil Women" comics characters are not "Empowering" women characters. We don't want our daughters to be child mass-murders like Harley Quinn, criminals, killers, etc., or dimwits who can't add 2+2. Most of our daughters would beat the crap out of any of the women DCEU characters. Bet $1000 on my daughter over any/all of them. Except Helena Wayne, maybe.
