Babs, with Dinah, a freed Harley, and Frankenstein are on their way to Bludhaven.Ollie is heading to Smallville. And Kara and her band are going down under. The chess pieces are on the board. I liked this issue a lot as it gave us the backgrounds and motivations for our ragtag heroes to split up like this. And that art is glittery.  Read Full Review

This book is a fun story, with pulpy art, vibrant colors, and stunning lettering choice, but above all else, is a great reminder of Schmidts talents and a portfolio for various books that he would crush if given the chance. Its an honest tragedy that Schmidt has never worked on a Birds of Prey series (either an ongoing or a mini), and every issue of DC vs. Vampires proves that a Justice League Dark with Schmidts visual of magic would be spellbinding. Hopefully just as DCeased gave Tom Taylors career a push, Schmidt will make a bigger footprint and get more opportunities to play in various parts of the DC sandbox. Read Full Review

Overall, this is really a transition issue, with it ending with three key groups of characters heading into missions that could determine the fate of the war. With only four issues left, I'm wondering if this is just going to be act one. Read Full Review

DC vs. Vampires #8 is another fantastic issue. If you haven't been reading the series, go out and start from the beginning. For those that have been reading, looks like it's game on and things are about to get wild. Read Full Review

This has been a recurring problem with the series, but its really time for the heroes to get a big win. Every issue finds the vampires adding to their body count while the heroes stay on retreat mode. Its time for a confrontation where the good guys come out ahead for a change. Read Full Review

While the guilty pleasure series wherein heroes could be killed at any moment might have had a shaky start, it seems as if the comic pitting heroes against creatures of the night has found its footing. Read Full Review

A confusing follow up to Hunted, Killers, and All-Out War; DC Vs. Vampires #8 delivers on the little things, but fails at the bigger picture. Eight issues is past the threshold for reasonable doubt, and I am ready to demand more out of the writing. I can't defend how off the rails the narrative is getting by clinging to the things I enjoy about the art and certain characters. The story requires a stronger focus and more relatable themes overall. Tynion IV and Rosenberg should map out the story direction in a cleaner way before they completely loose sight of where it is heading. Read Full Review

I'm loving this series and I really liked this issue. I specially like, that despite being in essence an issue where we stop and take a look at our characers before they start their respective journeys (so basically a setup chapter) it still manages to maintain the tension and the sense of dread that they may not come out of this. I love they're setting up some internal conflict in this super-high stakes world-ending situation as well, though perhaps that's just me. If I had a complain, is that I think that fill-in art is not up to the task. I don't need main artist to draw the whole thing because I know sometimes the realities of comic book publishing get in the way, but they need someone with a style that's a bit more compatible to more

Well this was a perfect low stakes "calm-before-the-storm" issue. I loved how all the characters are set, not jsut their external missions, but also their internal conflicts. I'm specially curious about Kara, who literally has the weight of the world on her shoulders, yet seems to be unconvinced and the story implies, via Ryan Choi, that there's something else in play. I also like that Barbara seems like it's going to be a bit more complicated than originally expected. And the rest is great too. The writer-artist combo are great at creating mood. I loved the humour at the beginning with the exploding vamp, the scene with Green Arrow and Black Canary. All in all, I loved this one :D

An Elseworlds with actual creativity in its storytelling (instead of just following a bunch of tropes). I actually enjoy the fact that the apocalypse plot takes a backseat to tell three personal stories. Personal stakes work better than higher stakes.

Otto Schmidt's art is terrific as usual. But I don't agree with the reviewers who say the artwork is seamlessly shared. Daniele Di Nicuolo drew nine of the 22 pages - the scenes with Batgirl in and right outside of Hugo Strange's lab, and then on the boat with Supergirl, Steel and Black Manta. And while the static panels are okay, his scratchy manga style often meant incomprehensible action. Batgirl's movements in the lab, and the action on the boat, are just too sketchy for me. On second thought - the busiest two pages in the lab are actually downright awful! (I agree with ZONS9's opinion, above, except that I think they were too polite about it.) I'd give this a 8.5 for story (which I thoroughly enjoy) and Schmidt, but deducted a point more

The Vampire Shark Jump issue of Utter Absurdity in Plot. So if you going to have The Spectre, a spirit channeling the actual Wrath of GOD, in an issue - realize that The Spectre is not just another "magician" easily controlled or wiped out. The Spectre not only could wipe out the vampire scourage, The Spectre can literally move planet Earth itself. But you have him here like a "magician." Utterly pathetic. As is the pathetic portrayal of Dr. Fate and so many others. There is no "conflict." It is just Rosenburg (and when he glances at this Tynion) creating the most pathetic stick figure level characters of heroes and heroines, so they wipe them out. Like little boys playing with Army men. That is the level of writing that we see more
