DC K.O.: Red Hood vs. The Joker Issue 1is a revenge story that revels in reminiscing. It's more than just a single fight within an event. It's a chance to get payback after decades of trauma and blood. Read Full Review

It all comes down to the most brutal fight of the entire games so far, with both sides not just wanting to win but to see the other dead, and it ends in a way that only this fight could with both getting what they need out of the fight, but the future of the DC Universe looking a little darker as a result, with a cliffhanger that sets the stakes sky-high for this upcoming next act. The most personal and brutal fight in DC K.O. delivers a surprising combo of drama and self-reflection. Snyder and Williamson address ghosts of the past while fighting in the present. The art teams escort readers through the many sides of Jason Todd to a stunning conclusion. How this ends provides a thunderous finish that shouldn't be passed on for NCBD! Read Full Review

DC K.O.: The Joker vs. Red Hood was a book this event needed to nail and it delivered. Snyder and Williamson know there's too much history between these two characters to be superficial and they rightly leaned into it. Read Full Review

DC K.O.: Red Hood vs. The Joker #1 takes aim at Jason Todd's status quo as "The Robin Who Died," but surprisingly still misses the target on what's truly been holding him back. Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Gabe Hernandez

    Dec 24, 2025

DC K.O.: Red Hood vs. The Joker #1 wants to be the definitive showdown between a son and the monster who claimed to birth him. Instead, it's a frustratingly muddled retread of emotional ground DC has mined a dozen times already, buried under fight choreography so unclear you'll find yourself rereading panels to figure out who's winning. The philosophical victory Jason achieves is solid in concept but feels hollow in execution, since the Joker never meaningfully challenges him, just talks while getting stabbed repeatedly.
