I found this issue to be a little bit rocky, although Kelly Thompson is still a great writer, it was a little jarring the way certain things were rushed to a conclusion. It just seemed a little lacking to me, after everything the ladies had been through. Read Full Review

Birds Of Prey #12 is a silly yet serviceable issue that sends the BoP into Cartoon Land(???). Kelly Thompson's setup makes little sense, and this issue lacks dramatic tension or urgency, but this issue may have the clearest and most purposeful plot yet. This story arc has been disastrous and Birds of Prey #12 does nothing to change the course. If anything, Thompson shows that she doesn't really know these characters, especially Barbara, and she doesn't have anything significant to say. Her take on Birds of Prey has been a bust since the first issue as the core concept of Birds of Prey has escaped her. Birds of Prey is something Barbara Gordon does, it's not simply a team of women heroes. There's a Venn diagram somewhere showing where these ideas cross over, but Thompson is not inside it. Don't know why the low scores. This issue moved the story forward in a tangible way, has strong character interactions and i loved the changes in art style. This arc is turning out much better than expected and this series is one of DCs strongest currently.

I don't know as this comic always works, but I love that it's always trying new things; I'd rather read a comic that swings for the fences and misses sometimes than a comic that's just offering a pre-chewed meal of predictability and nostalgia

this comic tried new things, and while it's executed strangely I still appreciate Kelly Thompson for trying something new on how the birds of prey are in different dimensions
