This particular issue starts out a little slower than the previous issues in the story, but it picks up considerably in the second half, and it feels like the conclusion will be worth it in the end. Read Full Review

Gene Luen Yang gives readers some explanation and even tries to make his villain sympathetic, but the weight of the story and all of its silliness and convolutions smother most of it.  It looks great and can be a bit of goofy fun at times, but overall, it feels like the gimmick is wearing off, and the story is losing steam. This arc is so much fucking fun. I really do enjoy it. I did notice a dip in quality as we finally had to really do some exposition, but still, this is one of my favorites to come out of Infinite Frontier. Shame that it's canceled.

What started out as a terrific tribute to classic matinee serials has turned into something out of the cheesy old sci-fi stories about time travel and the multiverse. I sure hope this isn't a decline that falls further downhill, but frankly since I've never been a fan of Etrigan I'm not expecting next issue to be much of a boost from where we are now. I'd rate the story a 6.5, but I'll give it an extra point for the great artwork alone.
