Agree with the unnecessary censoring of issue #1. The idea of a darker series of comics really interests me, but if they're going to backtrack or erase a comic after slight criticism from people who haven't grasped the mature aspect, then they may as well release these as regular elseworld comics on the standard label.
Batman: Damned #2

Dec 12, 2018SO many questions arise from Book Two of this bimonthly series. But the biggest one is whether or not Batman will make it out alive himself and if he does, what would that cost him: His mind, his body or worse, his soul? I still say that Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo are a dream team when it comes to depicting the dark and twisted world that truly is Batmans existence and with part two, they did not disappoint to bring on the crazy and tragic. See you in 2019, boys! Read Full Review

Jan 05, 2019I am in love with Batman Damned thus far, any complaints about it would be specifically a contrivance for the sake of not my actual opinion. It's not for the faint of heart but I recommend this to anyone who likes some grimdark in their stories. Read Full Review

Dec 12, 2018Brian Azzarello's second chapter in this first Black Label series provides ample opportunity for Lee Bermejo's glorious artwork to shine. While the story continues to be well-mired in the mystical, fresh glimpses into Bruce Wayne's past highlight this carnival of madness, along with more cameos from the dark underworld in freshly actualized forms. This book is being issued on a quarterly schedule, but at more than double the pages of a regular comic so far it's been well worth the wait. Read Full Review

Dec 12, 2018I understand that Black Label books are going to aim at being more mature. Yet for some, this means nudity and swearing. Given the trouble a naked man caused last issue, I am not sure how I feel about the last few panels and the implied seduction of the not so innocent. With this label, DC have an opportunity to challenge the reader with ideas and images that may seem distasteful or disturbing. With that in mind, this book continues with its strong substance that actually meets its excellent style. Read Full Review

Dec 12, 2018The issue leaves the mysterious happenings in Gotham all the stronger. We get unexplained apparitions and the prophetic ravings of a mad man. The mystery is as open now as it was on page one of issue one. It'll be a true event to see how it all ends in the final issue. Read Full Review

Dec 12, 2018Ultimately I think we were given another amazing and gorgeous chapter of what I feel is the best looking series of 2018. The narrative style of John Constantine is by far one of my favorite parts of this series. I just love the way John speaks. He has a way of getting my mind deeper into the story, connecting me more with what's going on in the pages. From Ertigan's lethal rhymes as rapper J Blood, to Batman's adult encounter with Harley Quinn, it's hard to pinpoint what my favorite part of this issue was as there's many standout moments, but I guess I'd have to say the the overall mystery and occult conspiracy that has surrounded Bruce's life since he was a boy is what intrigues me most here, and it's why I recommend this series as a must read of 2018. Dec 20, 2018With one more issue planned for Batman: Damned, its hard to predict where this book will go next. The cliffhanger at the end of this book, controversial as it is, also questions if Batmans sanity is slipping away. Unfortunately, well have to wait until sometime in 2019 to find out the answer. At this rate, though, the finale just may be one worth waiting for. Read Full Review

Dec 12, 2018Batman Damned #2 didn't have that anxious and flexible shape like the previous issue. Rather it presented layers of memories and gave room to unpack them throughout the panels. It still stands on its own, and I hope to see a merger of both the thrill of the darkness and the rage of painful memories. Read Full Review

Dec 12, 2018BATMAN: DAMNED #2 is good overall. I do have issues, and worry that style might be taking precedent over substance by going over-the-top with the grim, edgy storytelling. However, the striking artwork alone would be strong enough to sell it. Read Full Review

Dec 18, 2018It's been a long time since a title has garnered so much public attention from both comic fans and the public. A quick search of Batman: Damned #1 will have the book on auction sites as high as $300-$400, making it one of the most expensive modern books in history. While no one will be paying that much for #2, it surely holds its own as a strong sequel to the massively popular first half and has the reader excited for so much more to come! Read Full Review

Dec 18, 2018I am still all in for the series. While I still enjoyed this issue overall, I will need it to begin to pick up the pace. I also need more content in this title that warrants the "Black Label" title outside of the occasional F-Bomb. With that being, said it needs to make sense for the story and not just be randomly placed there for the sake of it. Speaking of story, I am very interested to know more about Bruce's backstory. What is his secret? Where is the Joker? Who is paying to listen to Jason Blood? The art continues to impress consistently. I look forward to seeing more of it. I really want the next issue to blow my mind and I hope it will. Read Full Review
