At its heart, there's nothing more revolutionary than a conflict between super-powered individuals. There's nothing particularly original being presented here, but with a story that delivers the standard superhero/supervillain action so well. It's as entertaining as ever with Jurgens and Leonardi at the top of their games, this is an enjoyable issue nonetheless. With any luck, the new direction hinted at the end of this issue could bring about chapters of this level of quality. Read Full Review

Batman Beyond #36 ends things in a very uncertain way. Sure we get a clear ending to the storyline, but we don't know which way is up. It's a bold choice from Jurgens to leave readers on tilt like this. What does the future have in store for Batman of the Future? I'm sure many will want to read more to find out. Read Full Review

Batman Beyond #36 was a dramatic issue, fulfilling all of the promises of the last issue, and then upping the ante. While it did resolve a couple of the larger plot arcs, there are still tendrils left to hook us into the next wave. Read Full Review

Its an unsatisfying ending, but it seems clear that its supposed to be that way. The creative team is setting up the next story and allowing themselves more room to expand upon several of these unresolved issues. Leonardi’s pencils are nice, clean, and fit well with Jurgens’ style of writing, and sometimes give off a Jurgenesque style as well. Favorite panel/full-page spread is when Splitt, well, splits into two while flanking Batman. Parks’ inks are very flattering to Leonardi’s pencils as well as he doesn’t overburden them throughout the issue. Add Sotomayor’s colors to the mix, and you have the recipe for a really nice book. Everything comes to a screeching halt with this issue and it doesn't feel natural at all.  Yeah, this is the finale, but it feels like there was a lot of story left behind because everything here feels like it was thrown together last minute and nothing about it came off as satisfying.  The art even took a bit of a dip in my mind and overall, there just wasn't much about this issue that I found myself enjoying, which is strange for all the things that were shoved into it. The art is horrendous again, the story pretty basic. The ending however is pretty neat and I wish the cartoon (which is a lot better than this run) would have tried it.
