Batman Beyond #35 pushes characters on the fringes, or tucked into the recesses of this world's past, right into the forefront. The tension with two villains, and Bruce Wayne's certainty of their plans, means two heroes are needed. We have much to look forward to as the current arc reaches a fever pitch in thisinstallment. Jurgens has a long history writing superhero comics. Batman has been through a lot over the years. Jurgens and company may not be adding a whole lot of new elements to a traditional superhero story. Batman Beyond #35 is another solid chapter in Jurgens' run that is unfortunately marred by inconsistent art. Despite the feeling that this arc should have been shortened to a two-parter, Jurgens has the advantage of having built a solid cast of likable characters who I don't mind simply spending more time with. Additionally, The Splitt has turned from a rather uninteresting villain of the week, to a sympathetic child victim who has found himself in the middle of a dire situation. With a special guest appearance in the final pages, Jurgens has set himself up well for what I hope is a satisfying finale next issue. Read Full Review

Somehow with decent art and interesting villains this issue still feels kind of lackluster because nowhere in this book could I find a competent hero beyond our cliffhanger reveal and that factor to this book is getting kind of old. Read Full Review

Overall, this arc is reshaping itself and moving away from out-of-character decisions that marred previous issues. So long as the story keeps moving away from False Face pulling the wool over everyone's eyes without even trying and towards exploring The Splitt, the arc can be a good one despite the rocky start. Initially this seemed to be a sort of throw-away story for me. I had found the False Face angle to be mildly interesting, and I hadnt really cared at all about Splitt. But this issue has switched that around for me. While Im even less interested in False Face, Im actually intrigued to see what happens with Adam and Caden. Also, I really wish that had been Stephanie Brown standing over Terry. But overall, this was enjoyable. Read Full Review

False Face, like Clay Face is a villain that I can take or leave. Being someone else is a power that can be totally amazing or redundant. I am not sure how to feel about it here. It feels a bit redundant here. Still, what a great last page. There is so much to unpack there and what hope for the future of the series. Read Full Review

For the life of me I can't understand why more people don't like this series especially with this story line. I can honestly say this story line has been interesting from the beginning and now that were going get the Beyond characters interact with a character from Bruce's past. I can't wait to see what the next issue has in store.

The story is basic and fine but that art definitely looks like the art of a book soon to be cancelled. EDIT: Did that dude from Weird Science seriously call this art decent?

Lol yes he did. I looked at it cause I'm not reading this atm but that art is not my style. More for a indie book or maybe not for superheroes. Just my opinion but I agree with your review.
