I have liked Rowell's recent work on She-Hulk. But this story is electric.  So a very very good issue, top to bottom. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke

Action Comics #1068 is the epitome of good Superman comics. The main story features Superman against impossible odds yet still finds ways to win, while the backup shows his humanity. Superman's awesomeness is on full display, as is his humanity. It's a delight. Read Full Review

This is Superman at his funnest. The art is great, the storytelling is great, and the entire experience is just great! My only small disappointment is not seeing the "Super Twins at the dinner table in the beginning of "In Love. At Work., but that really is a minor thing. Read Full Review

Gail Simone's arc on Action Comics is set at some point in the past in a stylized Metropolis inspired by the 1970s comics. But she's managing to give us a Superman story that's truly timeless in the best way, as alien conquerors have come for Earth and set Superman an impossible task. Read Full Review

The throwback tale of the Man Of Steel continues its winning ways with another great issue. Simones writing delivers on the heros will versus improbable odds. Barrows, Miki and Lokus construct the larger than life images that make this only meant for the iconic hero. Looking for the Man of Tomorrow? Look no further than the past with this story. DC Comics News - Matthew Lloyd

Action Comics #1068 is WELL worth your attention. It's got enough classic Superman in it while at the same time addressing a more modern look at the Superman/ Lois dynamic. There's character work both subtle and direct throughout the issue. There's great action and Eddy Barrows delivers on the visuals. This issue is better than the previous and it genuinely feels like a good time to be reading Action Comics. Read Full Review

While this run has a distinctive feel of being "filler" content to get from more recent major arcs to the next big thing, there is no denying the charm of Simone's work with the Man of Steel as "Superman and the Challenge from the Stars" continues. Read Full Review

    Weird Science - Gabe Hernandez

    Aug 15, 2024

Action Comics #1068 continues Superman's contest of champions with Earth's survival as the prize. Gail Simone's tale keeps the pace, energy, and smart action high for a rousing tale. Plus, the art team's execution is generally on point, except for wonky faces on Jimmy. That said, Rainbow Rowell's backup story is a bizarre headscratcher. Read Full Review

Die-hard Superman fans might enjoy this arc, but otherwise, I would skip it. Detached writing mixed with gritty artwork makes this three-part arc boring and confusing. Read Full Review
