In “Edgar Allan Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher” #2, writer/artist Richard Corben delivers another truly terrifying adaptation. I can't wait to see which of Poe's macabre tales Corben does next. I'm gunning for “Murders In The Rue Morgue”. Read Full Review

However, it's still really fun to take in through your sight balls. Slightly hokey, it has the feel of one of those classic Edgar Allan Poe adaptations Hammer did with Vincent Price. I always get the warm-fuzzies when reading Corben comics. He's a throwback to the days of weird narrator characters at the beginning of anthology horror comics. And it's always excellent to see more horror anthology type comics coming out. Still, it comes and goes too soon. 8.5 Very atmospheric art, and writing style.Lots of influence from Poe's other stories.Over too soon. Read Full Review

This take, while definitely not safe for work, is one of the best I've seen, ramping up the decay until everything quite literally collapses on itself. Horror fans need to add this one to their collection. Read Full Review

Corben's House of Usher was a good story, but it feels like it should have just been collected into one book. The finale happens rather quickly and doesn't feel like a full meal. It will benefit greatly if you read it all at once. Read Full Review

It's very possible that this story just doesn't translate well into this format or that the original story is equally vague. I like the story itself and I think there was a lot of potential here but overall I was kind of disappointed in the execution. The story feltrushed and I think it would havebeenbetter had it not been crammed into 2 issues. I wouldn't say that you shouldn't bother to read it. There are definitely things about it that I liked. I'd recommend reading the original story before checking it out. It was also a little bit hard for me to pick back up in the middle without having a summary of issue #1 to remind me what was going on. Probably best to read the issues back to back.
