Abe Sapien #4

Next issue should prove to show us more on the egg, the wolves, and Barry. As always anything by Mike Mignola and Scott Allie would be considered good. However for this two parter we apparently mainly have John Acurdi to thank as most of the credit should be going to him. He penned the majority of this tale and if this is how he's going to write and the second part is just as good? I want him contributing even more to the series! Read Full Review

Despite the fact that there is very little happening, the more thoughtful approach to the character, the world and what is happening makes for an amazing read that is only enhanced by the stunning art of Fiumara and Stewart. Read Full Review

I think Max did a fantastic job. His art has the ability to make even the most insane events seem realistic, and there is this air of danger and fear that runs through every panel of this issue. Lots of great character moments, but dread is never too far away. Read Full Review

Abe Sapien #4: The New Race of Man Part 1 (of 2) looks to be the thinking man's book this month. With B.P.R.D. resting heavily on the action side of things, it's nice to escape into the mind frame of Abe as he brings us along on his journey. This book is also a great jumping on point for those looking to get in on the action as many of the events from the past are re-capped nicely. Read Full Review

Overall, Abe Sapien is back for another great issue. Those looking for action may be disappointed, but the dialogue doesn't fail. This is one of the best written comics I've read in awhile. Even if you're not into Hellboy or B.P.R.D., I recommend giving this series a shot. Read Full Review

. . $3.50, 22pgs + 4pg prv & 1 pinup. No ADs!! A- Cover. . . The art for this doesnt work to well for me, but hasits moments. A slow and somber 2 parter gives way to an very interesting, maybe even 'meta', conversation between Abe and some BPRD fans which may mirror the Mignola/Arcudi'S relationships with BPRD readers. They seem to say they understand how we missed our old friends, the monsters who we have watched save us from monsters. This faith is not shaken, and we are glad to see him again, in these trying times. I hope the writers are trying to say, 'hold fast, they are coming back... to save us.' BPRD has gotten so much grimmer, which i enjoy, but it has lost its way character wise. I can only hope the wait is almost over, to see th e characters i love again. The world, plots and the epic storyline are ready for them to return... and save us. Meanwhile there are plenty of revelations here to keep us interested. more
