Overall,Angel #7is a good use of Angel's time away. We're learning more about our supporting cast and the world that Hill is building. With its titular character in an event, series often struggle, but with Angel,it's full steam ahead and I can't wait to see what happens next. Read Full Review

Angel #7 is a solid comic. It tells its story clearly and does its best to raise some stakes for the characters despite the challenges of being a licensed book and the baggage that any reader will have from the original material. Angel #7 was another worthwhile issue that proves how everything going on within the Hellmouth isn't all that's important. Angel left behind two pieces to a big puzzle who are out in the world and getting into their own kind of trouble. The kind which fortunately brought us to a character we haven't seen in a LONG time. Oddly, these pages being bereft of their title character has seemed to do wonders forAngel, giving the supporting cast time to stretch their legs a bit and grow and develop. Hill clearly has some big plans cooked up for this book, but the quality of the art sadly needs to catch up to his ambitions. There's a lot of intriguing elements being introduced. Wolfram & Hart, Lorne, and magick. None of which is all that close to the original. Wolfram & Hart seem more like a cult dressed as a law firm rather than the evil of men represented as a law firm. Lorne seems a bit more mean-spirited than his television counterpart. And Fred being magickal is almost like the complete opposite of her scientific nature in the show. I'm willing to let this all play out, but the sheer difference of things doesn't necessarily excite me, and multiple times during the issue, I just wanted to watch the show again. That's not great when you're trying to build up your own version of the story. I overall liked the issue but I can't ignore these concerns I have.
