This new issue is a slow-paced moment in a continually strong showing for Bendis' new run, but this makes me hope the story will gain some real traction as time goes on.

Bendis' overarching plot in Action Comics isn't grabbing anyone just yet, but conversely toSuperman issues, the deep character moments in this title are what make it a delight to read.

Action Comics #1007 throws a lot into the mix, but the strong creative team behinds it helps glue these plot points together in a solid first installment of the new storyline.

Atomic Robo's first entry into a new series will be an enjoyable step forward for fans and anyone craving more from the character, but the more laidback tone and lack of explanation might alienate new fans. Regardless, it's a strong start to a new era for the eponymous automaton, and longtime followers will want to be along for the ride.

Bloodshot: Rising Spirit #1 seems like it's still finding its feet and the kind of story it wants to tell, but hopefully it'll shape up over the course of its run to become the marriage of 2010's character study and 90's violence that it so wants to be.

Bloodshot: Rising Spirit #2 delivers more action, science, and mystery, but still needs to flesh out its foundations in order to pull more readers in and expand upon its strong roots.

Brandon Sanderson's Dark One is an exercise in managing expectations, leading the reader to rethink what they know and love about fantasy stories in order to enjoy a story that both perfectly captures and totally swerves common cliches and storytelling staples.

The art and coloring are great, the writing snappy and funny, and this issue surprisingly tells a very meaningful story despite the absurdity in the premise. If you're a Nightwing fan, pick up this issue. But just be ready for what comes with the territory of modernized cartoon gorillas in a murder mystery.

This crossover is funny and sharp, but the fact that it just seems like two unfitting characters mushed together makes it not as funny as it perhaps could have been. Regardless, it's a Hanna-Barbera Crossover so it's not going to be judged too harshly, and is a fine entry into this series of one shot issues.

This new Deathstroke story arc has a lot to offer, with fascinating character moments and an intriguing premise. With great writing thus far, it's exciting to wonder where the series will go, as long as it remembers to focus on its title character.

Dial H for Hero delivers as a strong start that aims to set up its series with a focus on characterization over flashiness, but there's plenty of eye-popping art to accompany this premiere issue.

Doomsday Comics #7 serves as the dynamic transition into the second half of the series that it needed, marrying startling revelations and quiet, important character moments. It will continue to grip established fans of the series and draw back in anyone who feared the tension had yet to truly kick in.

Doomsday Comics #8 is another strong entry in this series, taking it down a notch from the varied ensembles of past issues to focus on the Man of Steel's struggle to understand all the angles and factors at play in the series. It's exciting to see the plot move forward, and as always, the book leaves us wanting even more.

Doomsday Clock #9 delivers on multiple fronts, with a huge cast of characters confronting a long-awaited antagonist, but yet more is still to come, which leaves you wondering just how it's all going to tie together in the end.

Flash #56 is a slower take on DC's fastest, serving not only to develop this week's villain but also overlooked aspects of its title character. Filled with enjoyable side characters and enticing prospects for the future.

The Flash continues to be light and fast-paced storytelling, as it should be, but an underwhelming conclusion to the current story arc disappoints, while leaving some excitement for the upcoming Force Quest storyline.

The Flash #71 continues its "Year One" storyline in an exciting step forward! This issue enjoys the high-speed perils of the future and continues to deliver a fresh and enjoyable take on the hero's expanded origin story.

Folklords #1 takes a familiar premise and quite literally changes the pieces around, creating a fresh and unique coming-of-age tale that seeks to change the way we look at stories and the fantastic.

Grendel: Devil's Odyssey takes to the stars and shouldn't be missed by any fan of Matt Wagner or the sci-fi fan wanting something new.

Headless combines a spellbinding story with enthrallingly nostalgic artwork that create's an 80's piece that stands on its own as a unique piece of fiction that's a hell of a ride. If you look past the occasional messy plot point and limited coloring, you'll find that Headless is anything but.

Naomi is an excellent change of pace for Brian Michael Bendis, giving him a whole town to explore and develop; along with Jamal Campbell, Bendis is laying the groundwork for both a unique and exciting mystery series.

Naomi's second issue continues to impress with lively art, intriguing story, and a unique and gripping premise that continues to unfold. This series shouldn't be missed, as you'll want to be there when the pieces finally come together.

Naomi #5 delivers on all fronts, with a satisfying explanation of the main character's identity and an absolutely spectacular showing from Jamal Campbell's artwork.

Percy and Moore take the reins on a brand-new arc for Dick Grayson which has compelling moments but will need to stay strong throughout the 4-part series in order to stand out from its "been-done" premise.

Nightwing #51 continues the most recent upset in Dick Grayson's life with quiet reflection and character moments that allow the shock from last issue to settle and ruminate into what might become the most memorable Nightwing story in recent memory.

Nightwing #53 takes great strides forward to continue building its storyline and bold new direction for the title character. We're all eager to see how Dick Grayson's story develops and this series no sign of slowing down anytime soon.

Nightwing #55 is sure to delight followers of this storyline by finally kicking things into high gear. The series continues to solidify this direction for the character in an exciting and thrilling way.

Nightwing #56 closes out theKnight Terrors storyline with a suitable boom, just not a bang. Still, the new prospect of a Nightwing team is exciting, and it's always great to see DC commit to a new status quo for an iconic character.

Nightwing #60 fleshes out its new supporting cast, and blends police drama with dynamic action for another strong step forward in an ongoing saga for the character.

This latestNightwing story arc concludes with a fiery display of heart, heat, and character in a way that essentially sets the mold for what all future story arcs in this era of the character should be.

Outer Darkness #1 is a strong start to a series with a lot of promise. It doesn't look like its breaking all the rules just yet, but with all the subtle references of things to come, there's not telling where it'll go. You should be along for the ride.

Ronin Island #1 hits all the right notes in a standout first issue, taking time to present the world as vividly as possible before introducing the conflicts we can look forward to in future iterations of its story.

Sea of Stars#2 shows us a different side of the events of the last issue with another protagonist, as well as showing more context to the conflict alongside amazing art. Definitely check this series out.

The third issue of Jason Aaron and Dennis Hallum's sci-fi adventure continues to impress with spectacular art and inspiring writing. This is a series to keep your eye on.

Sea of Stars #4continues the adventure in a dazzling array of new characters, dramatic developments, and connecting one of the most touching sci-fi stories in recent memory.

Star Wars Adventures: Return to Vader's Castle is the perfect return to Star Wars ghost stories that will be sure to delight younger fans and possibly interest older ones. Will you step into Vader's Castle?

Overall, this is a great issue with plenty of promising set-up for the storyline ahead. However, hopefully subsequent issues will have more action from the titular Kryptonian and less of her imprisoned.

Supergirl #27 continues the ongoing saga with a thunderous leap forward, showing off everything that makes this title great while still expanding the current story.

Superman #8 continues the set-up for Jon's personal story, but doesn't amount to much progress forward in this issue, despite continually sharp dialogue and art from the creative team.

This issue of Superman is action-packed and filled with excitement, but some long-term Superman fans may still need convincing to become fans of this new era for the character.

Superman #5 Keeps the action going with the great execution of making Zod the highlight of this issue, which should leave fans of the series excited to where it goes next.

This first part of Jonathan Kent's story is a strong start to a new arc for the Man of Steel and his family, serving not only to expand the storyline but also to define a successor to Superman in his son even further than before.

Superman: Year One offers a fresh take on the world's most iconic superhero's beloved origin story; however, while it has some strong elements, Superman: Year One will have to continue to develop in order to stand out from the herd.

Going off on a strong yet confusing tangent from the tried-and-true Superman origin, Superman: Year One is becoming highly divisive for fans and longtime readers.

With a strong central cast and excellent art and writing, The Necromancer's Map #1 is a can't-miss first issue.

Tommy Gun Wizards #1is a marvelous debut filled with action, humor, and an intriguing premise that's sure to pull in readers of all kinds.
