Plot
This special features several short stories from different creative teams, in black, white, and blood red:
“THE QUEEN OF DEATH VALLEY” by B. EARL, TABOO, LUKE ROSS, ALEX GUMARAES, and JOE SABINO: Blade faces the Queen Mother and is aided by an innocent soul.
“THE HITMAN’S BOOGEYMAN” by GARY MOLONEY, BALDEMAR RIVAS, and JOE SABINO: Hit-Monkey has an adventure against a powerful being called Gorgon. Action and plenty of guts.
“RUN” by PHILLIP KENNEDY JOHNSON, CHRISTIAN ROSADO, and CORY PETIT: A group of criminals are attacked with surgical precision and a barrage of bullets and explosives by The Punisher.
The first two stories seem like more of the same silly and embarrassing fare on the level of Marvel did and repeat. But the last story, the Punisher one, is written by a PKJ who is ACTUALLY trying to write something violent, where the art is left to illustrate each bloody scene, reminiscent of a Garth Ennis story where Castle plays a dentist who treats a wretch better than any dentist could. This short Punisher story alone manages to be more violent and realistic than the nonsense he wrote about the Hulk... by the way, the plot, without revealing too many spoilers, is similar to the first INSANE and DARK issue of The Immortal Hulk.
