When you have a great creative team that works great together, you get a perfect issue. Even without any super battles or millions of dollars in damages or deaths from a natural disaster, a great story was shared, a deeper look into Clarks upbringing, values and morals is explored and a person who will shape his feature is introduced. One of my favorite parts of this series so far is that it shows how difficult it is not only to be a superhero but to raise one, with Jonathan and Martha feeling like they have to ensure their son understands right and wrong even if it comes at great personal cost in this case. Sometimes, having super powers isn't enough to say the day. Waid's writing throws a very human problem in front of Superboy with a lesson behind it. Patridge & Plascencia construct vintage era panels to compliment a very grounded story. The throwback era of Superboy remains as vital to readers as it did decades ago. Read Full Review

Action Comics #1093 is another excellent single issue story, something we don't get enough of these days. It not only features great art from Patridge, but Waid continues to explore Clark's moral development. He's not afraid to show the inner struggle and temptation and Clark's mistakes.
