Devil on my Shoulder #1is a wonderfully disturbing story that really captures the essence of revenge horror. The graphic and disturbing nature of issue one is needed to really make the reader feel sympathy and later anger, so going forward we will be behind the revenge killings. Just based on how disturbing issue one is, has me excited as a horror fan about what will happen next. If you love horror and revenge stories this will be the book for you. Head to the LCS, grab a copy, give it a read, and then promptly add this title to your Pull List. Read Full Review

I've read countless of these kinds of stories over the years and they don't really get to me in a visceral way. Starks does a solid job of putting Tee through the grinder here and having something else come out the other side that wants simple revenge. And there is a kind of cathartic story there for many people to dig into. The destruction of Tee into Dogshit is going to be one of several of the worst choices the men made, and the determination she has to survive and destroy them is going to make a lot of what's to come pretty uncomfortable to watch, and surely cathartic for some as well. Starks handles thes cript well and the pacing works for what they're trying to do in four issues, but it's Kowalski's art that has me at the moment because he handles this kind of grimy desperation better than most. I'm dreading going down the path of revenge, but it's a team that I'm curious to see how far they'll go and what they'll do with it. Read Full Review

    AIPT - Kevin Clark Nov 25, 2025

Unfortunately, most of the book shows Tee, the main character of the book, being tortured and humiliated in every way possible, yet hardly any pages are given to develop her character before the assault happens. Read Full Review

    Plot
This comic includes a disclaimer on its first page warning that it contains disturbing descriptions of torture, kidnapping, graphic violence, violence against women, physical abuse, and death, but that eventually, the revenge will be just as cruel.

Tee is a young woman who stays late working, stocking a store, when she is accosted by five men who brutally beat her and take her to a barn.

In this barn, she is tortured mercilessly for forty-four days, without any reason, and her name is changed to "dogshit." None of the aggressors use their names; she refers to them based on their behavior:
-Ruthless Boy: the most verbally aggressive
-Kicking Boy: the one who loves to kick her constantly
    -Laughin more

This book is really dark and messed up. I can't recommend this book, but if you're willing to read a story of revenge, which it promises page 1, then get ready for a ride.
